my dad is gonna sell me an 88 camaro v6 thats been sitting in the back for around 7 years only starting it occasionally the engine has 25k and it needs a paint job, dash, headliner, door handles, window seals and stuff like that i want to restore the car to factory condition being its been in the family since new should the engine still be good it runs fine now it needs a tune up but not sure if it will give me any problems later being its been sitting for a while and i want it to be a daily driver would it be worth restoring?

It will cost you more than a few $$ to get it restored. But you are getting a car that you know for free. Considering you are in Florida once you fix it up will be fun car to use as a daily driver. The weather dosent beat our cars up like here in the NE. Doubtful you will ever get all the money you put into her back if you decide to sell it.

Florida actually beats the cars up pretty good. The ozone is strong here so rubber, glues and foams all deteriorate quickly. My car has 15k miles on it and I moved to FL 7 years ago. In that time, I've had to replace weatrstripping, seals, tires, AC, and now the headliner and visors. If I was still in MN, the car would not be needing these repairs. Also, the sun destroys the paint here.

Wow, i had no idea the enviorment was so tough there. I always figured Florida would be a great place to have a classic car. No wintry weather ..You learn something new every day.

Worth as in $$$ or as an investment? No.
You could easily spend more on this car restoring it up to daily driver status (let alone factory or even show quality) than what it would come back appraised at. A good paint job can cost up to a couple grand, not including body prep, if you want quality and it to last. Nice ride but the factory v-6 is also a bit of a hit.
Worth it as in personally to you and for sentimental reasons? Very likely yes.
If the car has a strong meaning to you and it would mean a lot to your family, or possibly your future generations,
, then by all means, go for it.
I also have a '68 Chrysler Newport Custom. It's in good condition but needs paint and a few other things. Even if I did all that, it's not worth much. Yet because it was my Great Aunt's from new, always in the family, and purchased from my home town, it would probably be the last vehicle I would part with. And I have plans to do some cool stuff to it which would cost me way more than what it's worth. I'd be doing it for my own personal reasons so that makes it worth it to me.
