confused on this i got a bucket firebird no interor or body parts
its a 91 firebird i know that for sure but what after that i dont
the vin is 1g2fs23m1xxxxx i think
i looked everywere and it said it was a base model or a trans am but i know there more like formula
its got a 305 tbi
my insurance ran the vin and formula came up so i dont know???
regardless its got a 87 gto bumper,91 ground effects and a regular stock spoiler with honeycomb rims now
would love to know what this car was

 

Id say that most likely its a base bird with the LO3 engine. Formulas never had ground effects unless someone decided to go through the trouble of putting them on yours. The only true way to know is to check the RPO codes since both a base bird and a formula will have the same beginning vin. The code for a formula is w66. Also the WS6 performance suspension came standard on formulas. Here a good link discussing all this.

91 it is either the center console or on the door of the little locking storage compartment in the back. If it isn't in either of those it's gone.

 

Your VIN is close, but I suspect it should be 1G2FS23E1MLxxxxxx

The E engine was the top engine for the Base firebird, and the base engine for the Formula. In either case the VIN would be the same for either model, which is indicated by the "S" or 5th digit.

Without going into much more detail, the Formula came with the bulge hood, and aero spoiler without the ground fx. The Base firebird came with the Flat hood, with no louvers, and a wing spoiler, the ground effects were an Option, it was a very common option as there were more base firebirds with the ground effects than without in 91 & 92. The Trans Am and GTA Coupe came with the Flat hood (With louvers), the aero spoiler and the ground effects.

I suspect you have a base firebird from your description.
