Is there a difference?

I'm wondering if there is a difference between an 84 Z28 and a base model 85? I already have the Z but would like to get the 85 because it doesn't have the electrical mess that my Z does and the heater works. I have a lot of newer parts on my car that I would like to transfer such as the radiator, hood and trunk shocks, brakes (all of it), and other random things. Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Is there a difference?

Assuming they already have the same engine, the only difference will be in suspension components.

What's different about the suspension?

The suspension on the Z is better, however that will swap on the 85. It isn't different as far as design, just stiffness. Everything you listed in your original post is compatible from 82-92.

Re: Is there a difference?

Apart from the swaybars, anything that's different between the two is long since old and worn out. You'd be better off with new replacements.
