It has been found that some 1985 Camaros have an RPO of B9K. I have been unable to locate the definition of B9K for a Camaro. I found it on other websites, but not in any relation to an F-body. I need someone with either an invoice or their original buildsheet for an 85 Camaro that has B9K to post the definition. While we're at it, if anyone has Z5V on their 1985 Camaro Invoice or buildsheet to also display it's identity. Thanks.

 

Member 89RESTO is the orig. owner of a 1985 IROC. Go to this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...rd-owners.html and scroll down to where his spid and invoice are posted. His IROC has the B9K RPO but doesn't have side body moldings, and the B9K RPO isn't listed on the invoice.

 

Checking the options list on 89RESTO's invoice tells me that B9K is not an orderable option. His invoice does not list the option code, however his SPID label shows it. That tells me that the RPO can only be defined by the buildsheet.

 

Here is a 1985 Iroc-Z that was on Ebay with 8,000 original miles on it. The SPID was posted and the build sheet. What is interesting is that the B84 and the B9K are both on the SPID. But, the build sheet only lists the B84 and doesn't seem to list B9K on it, or I can't find it. All of this is quite puzzling.

Based on these findings, it is now proven that the riveted door moldings were not a factory option. Holes being drilled in the panels so that a molding could be installed would need to be marked on the build sheet and should also be on the invoice for billing. Without it being there, the line workers would not know which molding to put on and the moldings wouldn't be charged for.

I did contact a friend at GM in Detroit this morning asking if he could help me locate B9K and also Z5V. He said he will see what can be found and let me know.

I have no idea what any of that means or whether it's significant or not, but there it is.

My 85 IROC has both RPO B9K and B84.

Mine has B9K as well., the car does have what appears to be factory door moldings.

 

B84 on neither spid or invoice, but B9K IS on my spid (not on invoice), and I can assure you it never had side mouldings of any kind.

 

My 85 has the B9K and the side moldings. I don't really care for the molding so Im glad it's not a factory option. My IROC does have custom cloth interior. How about you other guy's with the B9K and no B84, Is your interior's cloth? It just might be for the cloth trim processing order.

I add any new RPO's & details that I come across. I have the pretty much the same info as JamesC for B9K but nothing for Z5V.
Looking at the RPO's next to them on my list and the current B9K details, is it possible that those are for the "Iroc-Z" decals &/or possibly the ones on the ground FX??
