numbers matching 87 formula

i have an L98 for sale out of a 92 z28...i got a phone call from a guy trying to bring his 87 formula 350 back to "numbers matching" i told the guy id look into it unfortunatly i cant get into the storage place to check the motor untill tuesday...any one know off hand if the block will work?

I wasent shure i know the TPI systems them self are diferent does anyone know about the blocks?

The casting numbers will be the same, but the blocks are stamped with a partial vin number which obviously won't match.

If the guy has a car without a matching engine number to his VIN, and is looking for the original engine... chances are it was removed for a reason and/or the engine is long since gone. It is far more difficult to locate an original engine from your car than it would be to actually find an actual car you sold years ago... especially if you have no clue where the engine is...

Its like finding a needle in a haystack, that somoene burned the haystack and they mined it for steel...
