ok I found the build sheet in my 89 iroc, but there's a problem its in the rear cargo area but it is stuck to the floor. It appears to have gotten wet at some point in time, it's still readable though, but it's folded up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can possibly save it I was thinking about trying to steam it and see if maybe that would work. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks

 

Before I'd touch it, I would take the best darn digital pics of it I could. As legible as possible. Unfold as much as safely possible. You could try steam. Be gentle. Let the humidity and the heat try to release it without getting it saturated. Don't want the ink to fade or run. Don't use any solvents.

I think water is your best bet... Unfortunately it may take some real patience to get it not to rip...

Iroctopless is correct solvents will distroy the ink... I believe that they were using a Laser type printer at the time, so water should not hurt the ink, but anything like acetone, benzene, gasoline, oil, laquer thinner, mineral spirits or oil based will...

On a side note: As a teachable moment, what I have found is that with ink-jet type printouts you can usually paint, or clearcoat, but you cannot get them wet... Interestingly if you take a laser printout it is the opposite, it will run as soon as you hit it with paint or any kind of non water solvent, but it is virtually water proof as the paper it was printed on...

 

Here's a god one. I was handed my buildsheet and windowsticker when I bought the car. They were both folded many times. I filled the kitchen sink with warm water, and submerged each and let them soak. I then laid them on the counter, placed a thin towel and a few very heavy books on top. My buildsheet and WS are very legible and now flat. The only thing is, they are not so flat as a new piece of paper. They are more like a heavy fiber paper. I never tried steaming or ironing them to get them perfect. Can you tell? Use lots of water and let it come completely loose before trying to peel it back.

 

Looks awesome! One of the sharpest and best looking I've seen.
