When u say rare what exactly are u refering too? The silver color is pretty hard to find. But what other options does it have? More info would help out. 89 is a good year for a Roc.

4 wheel discs were available from 1982 - from the beginning.

WILL85IROC,
Chazman is correct regarding silver only being available in 1985. Is it perhaps dark grey instead of silver? I could have been repainted silver.

Re: 1989 silver iroc-z
The guys are correct: Met. Silver was a one-year IROC color. Rare? I've never seen another one up close and personal--and only three or four on the net. The VIN won't provide color info. Check my Car Details below for a pic, should you wish to see one.
BTW, the Camaro White Book lists ONLY the following colors for 89:
LIGHT BLUE
WHITE
BLACK
DARK RED
BRIGHT BLUE
MEDIUM GRAY (7,906 out of 110,739)
BRIGHT BLUE

Re: 1989 silver iroc-z
The 85 silver, sure. In 89 the closest was medium gray metallic, i.e. gunmetal. This GTA is the correct color for an 89, even though it's a 90...
But more importantly, the Iroc in your pic has 85-87 wheels, and the decals are placed in 85-87 position on the doors (88-up they were at the rear of the door). Also the red Z28 emblems on the fenders are incorrect for a 89, they should read IROCZ after 88.
BTW I've got an 87 Iroc in the garage that the seller swore was an 88. We got a surprise when he finally broke out the title.

Pics or it didn't happen.
I'd love to see an original silver IROC. That's a very unique color.

Great buy if it's original silver. Never seen one in person myself!
If you can find a build sheet or original RPO codes, that'd be awesome too and prove it most certainly was silver from factory.

Re: 1989 silver iroc-z
See my problem is that I had an 89 GTA that was Med Gray Met. and this 89 Trans am at the same time and the Trans Am was lighter. The GTA was painted under warrenty before I got it but the Trans Am I had painted under warrenty and it came back the same lighter color than the GTA. It's almost like the GTA had a gold flake in it and the Trans Am had a silver flake. I am going to take it to a paint place this weekend and see if they can match it up.

Re: 1989 silver iroc-z
The other colour that was kind'a similar that year was Medium Grey Metallic paint code 15 (WA 8573).
The silver was available on both the Z28 & IrocZ that year, but the I believe the grey wasn't on the IrocZ.

As to the accuracy, I can't be 100% correct. A person can't be with anything online. I would love to see if there was a Z28 out there that colour myself. I have seen a couple '85 met-silver Camaros in my travels and they also were both IrocZ's. One used to drive around my hometown of Gretna, MB Canada back in the mid 90's. He later trashed it.
Had I known then what I know now!!!!
I can't imagine that the met-silver only applied to the IrocZ's. If 21,177 IrocZ's were made in '85, it would be hard to believe that out of all the different coloured IrocZ's I've seen from that year, that roughly half, or 11,684, were painted met-silver. They'd be all over the place. There must be other '85 Camaro models out there that are also that colour. But, I'm like you, I've only seen it on IrocZs.

FOUND IT! http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ193055454
And here's one more, a 1984 Z28 that has supposedly been stored for 25 years, unplated: http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...dIdZ188914843# - to be honest, I've seen quite a lot of pictures of silver Z28s in the 82-84 body style, including at least one in the official brochures. Was that a different color?
Wow... only 45K clicks on that thing. 9000$. HO engine. I wish i had that kind of money right now

Re: 1989 silver iroc-z
That explains it, then. But that '85 SC should be the same color as the '85 IROCs. And it has similar red decals. I kinda like this silver/red theme.
