Hi all im new to this site but not to the car world. I have a 77 camaro im working on. Just got a 1992 firebird that went up in flames, in the rear and it is repariable. I got the vin decoded by carfax and it said it had an origanal 3.1 v6 but it has a 2.8 right now, im trying to locate the trim tag but am lost as to were it might be, I read on here somewhere that the build sheet is in the back end under the carpet, well if that is true its gone now. I dont know if 92's came with trim tages somewhere but if they did could you tell me where they might be. Here is the vin if you can decode it further for me like make location, body style, ect. 1G2FS23T2NL215492. I found a number right in front of the radiator rivited the the body it reads 050378. I dont know what it is so maby you can help me, thanks all im going to try to post pics of the car damage.

WOw this is so awsome thank you. I have a question about all these codes, i have the RPO decoder downloaded and ran a few threw they came up the same, but on the code 1SC what dose it mean option-3? or where can I find info on the meanings of the codes. Thank you for your help.

 

Your best bet is to look in the sales brochure for a 92 Firebird. Just shooting from the hip, 1SC on a 92 Firebird would be the top comfort package... Basically all the power options, fully loaded.

The definitions from compnine are mostly accurate, but they aren't specific to 82-92 cars, so some of them are bit wonky. Use the thirdgen.org decoder if you want a little more accurate definitions.
