All I want is a body in good shape that doesn't need much work. If I get this one first thing I am going to do is tear it down to nothing but the body, and build it back up from there. I want to put a 454 BB in it. Found one for 4900. And due to the fact that it has been underwater I am going to redo the whole electrical system as well. I haven't been able to find a one running or not for less than this.

If you are going to tear it down and redo everything anyway, I guess it dont matter if its been underwater. Looks like a nice body. I think that for $ 400 it would be worth that, just in body parts.

I have asked the same question on other forums and all I have got is it is not worth it. I guess some people don't understand the point of a ground up rebuild. It is going to be more of a restomod. Already done some research and found out that I could just drop a 454 in there and mount to the existing mounts with no modifications. Which I guessed I could do that because I have seen the engine bays of a third gen and wondered why they didn't put a 454 as a special order at least. I also want electronic gauges as well. I'll call the guy today to see if I can come take a good look at it before I make my decision.

I would strongly recommend replacing the entire wire harness on the car. it sat under water for long enough to soak into everything. just hooking up a battery to the thing could be a potential fire hazard.

Even if it hadn't been underwater I would do that to avoid any possible problems. I am going to replace all the electric components except the ECM since I plan on putting a carborated 454 in it.

You probably won't find one ADVERTISED any lower then the $500 mark. If people are going to take the time to try to sell something, the price is going to be higher. You have to find the car after it hasn't sold for $500 or when the seller needs money, that's when you get it for $150-200.

In this case, I'd probably keep looking. I don't really care that the interior is probably moldy and beyond repair, and I don't really mind that the wiring is questionable. What gets me is that the body was already starting to show some rust. I wouldn't pay anything extra for Cooper tires, either. If he'd go $100 without the wheels, it might be worth it, but I'd still be concerned about potential rust from being submerged.

Heck just drain/repace fluids, do things 2 get it running and use it as a burnout toy till it caches fire or whatever!!

For $400 this is a no-brainer if you're just looking for a shell, especially if the floors and quarters are solid. We all know that bodywork is the most expensive and difficult part of a build. For $400 you couldn't even get a new set of floors. Go for it!

You should only have to let the wiring harness dry. The ad says it was in a pond over night. I would only be concerned if it was in salt water for a period of time.
