Formula or Not?
Formula or Not?
Just bought our first Firebird, and it is supposed to be a Formula. Being a skeptic of everything (I should be from Missouri!), and a complete noob as far as these cars go, what can I look at to confirm this? We only paid $2k for it, so if it's not a Formula, I'm not going to be crushed - it's still a great car.
It's a 92, offset bulge on the drivers side of the hood, T-Tops, ground effects, the LO3 engine, and 16' wheels. I'm just starting down this muscle car path, and feel my ignorance. The only graphics on the car are the small birds on the posts behind the doors.
I've seen RPO's mentioned, but I'm not sure where to find them, or what I would be looking for if I did. Is there a guide that I have overlooked here? Yes, I've looked, but I may have missed it =/
Thanks in advance for any input!

Re: Formula or Not?
Open the trunk, there's a locking glovebox on the drivers side. Open that glovebox and on the lid there's a sticker with several 3 digit codes. Look for W66.
The bulge hood, 16" 20 slot wheels, and a wrap around wing, with no ground effects or fog lights, are the features that make a formula different from base model Firebirds. Of course the Formula also means a V8, WS6 suspension, 16" wheels, etc.

Re: Formula or Not?
If it has ground effects and they are original, it isn't a formula. Best way is to check the RPO codes like stated above.

That is what I needed to know - thanks!
