I am looking at a 1991 Formula that the owner claims is a 350 TPI. I may be wrong, but I thought the Formulas (Not Formula 350) were only 305. Is this correct?

The Formula is a model of the Firebird. It can be had with the LG4, LB9 or L98 in the early years and the L03, LB9 or L98 in the later years. The early years tagged the car with the Formula or Formula 350 decals. The 91/92 cars only said Formula regardless of the engine in the car. The car is a 350 if the VIN has an 8 in the 8th character. Never gauge a car by the decals that have been stuck on the car. They are easy to replace and could get you buying a car that is far from what you think it is.

Thanks for the info - I was unsure what the 91-92 cars were badged. I'll check the VIN.

It'll throw you for a loop the first time you see one, if all you've seen before are 87-90 Formulas, but Scott is 100% correct. In 91 the decals changed from the outlined font to a fading text, at the same time the "FORMULA 350" decal went away. Technically the badging on the hood bulge will read 5.7 LITER F.I. on 350 TPI cars, and 5.0 LITER F.I. on everything else.
