I could swear remembering seeing dog dish hubcaps on afew early 3rd gen base Camaros when new. Not the more common full hubcap, but smaller caps covering the bolt circle on steel wheel cars. I even remember holding one in my hand.

Anyone else remember that, or is my memory failing?

Dog dish hubcaps were standard on the base Firebird in '82.

They looked that but the center was flat and no trim rings.

I remember in the early to mid 80's, a local Chevy dealer had a stripper Camaro, black on black. V8 stick shift and gauges. Not much else. This car was equipped with poverty caps. This car screamed "special order"! Wish now I would have logged the VIN. Haven't seen it since..........looks sinister with dog dish caps!..............BILL

Good, so you remember them too. That sounds like a cool car, BTW. Wish I could find pics of something like that.

These look like the caps:

Okay, here's what I have....

Dog dish hubcaps were standard from '82 to '85(?). They came on the standard steel, 4 hole, argent painted, 14 x 7 wheels.

The full wheel hubcaps were an extra cost option.

Anyone have anything to add?

Still can't find a pic.

Yeah, I remember those caps. I worked with a lady at a grocery store back in the mid '90s who owned a 4 banger '82 Camaro. It was as clean as a whistle back then...white 4 cylinder stick with those caps!

Its so sad how you never see run-of-the-mill Sport Coupes anymore. They were so common back then...

Wow! If I ran across something like that - consider it sold!

I agree, it's too bad all the Sport Coupes were used, abused, hacked up and disposed of. 20 years from now, people will think that all 3rd gens were either IROCs or GTAs.

This is the #1 reason I want to keep my TA and restore it versus buying a GTA. Its just something you don't see nearly as often now, despite being far more common back in the day...

There was an 82 firebird for sale a couple months ago on ebay with those hubcaps on it. It was a base model, 4 speed, all black. Reserve wasnt met and the owner never reposted it for sale again. I dont remember where it was located though.
