Anyone got any idea of value and info

I am looking at purchasing an '82 Z28 Convertable. It need paint, top, and some interior work. Does anyone know any information on these camaros or have any idea of its value?

Re: Anyone got any idea of value and info

No factory convertibles in 1982, so that would be a conversion...done by maybe ASC? They are unusual, but not special or desirable enough to be particularly valuable. I pass a base model 82-89 Camaro Convertible on the way to work everyday, and used to pass another guy who had both an 82 and a 79 T/A convertible in his driveway. Another guy near me has a 90 IROC convertible, which I believe is a factory car. Weird, now that I think about it, almost all the third gen's I regularly see are convertibles!

Sounds like the car you're looking at is a little rough...being an aftermarket conversion, you might have some trouble finding a replacement top. Unless you're partial to this model year and convertibles, I would look for a coupe. Probably a lot of custom-made parts on the car you're looking at that would be difficult to source.

I'll assume the car has over 100k miles....in average condition, I'd say the car is worth maybe $2,000 if it runs, drives, and has a straight frame with no rust issues or obvious signs of previous damage. Deduct for incorrect wheels and any aftermarket add-on's. In perfect restored condition, the car might be worth $7-10,000 to the right buyer. Getting it to that level would probably take a $20,000 investment though.

You might try posting in the Convertible-specific forum on here, most of us guys in the history/resto forum don't have much experience with the non-factory convertibles as they're not that common.
