Third gen prices
Third gen prices
A lot of people are wondering if the prices of third gens will go up. Some of them al ready have. A guy I know has a collector car business. In the last year he has sold some third gens. The last he sold was a near perfect 30,000 mile 89 GTA for $27,000, 50.000 mile 91 L03 Formula for $12,000 and a 40,000 mile 85 H.O IROC for $15,000. All were very clean cars. The IROC was probably the nicest one I have ever seen outside of a new car show room. The money he was asking he got. He wont haggle much on a price. He has two for sale now. http://www.holtautosales.com/invento..._inventory.htm
I bet he sells them for what they are advertised for. All of the third gens he has sold lately he said there were at least three people trying to buy them at the same time. I don't know if it is good or bad, but, prices are climbing.

Re: Third gen prices
No offense, but that guy's selling his cars for some pretty asinine prices, a few of them anyway.
$25k for a 305/auto 5k mile IROC with base interior and manual windows? Seriously? There'd have to be a 1LE on the RPO, but I see fog lights.

Re: Third gen prices
I think it is a good bit high as well. The base seats are the uglyest seats ever. But, he says he will get that price for it. None of the cars sit in his showroom for ever. I have seen some of the paper work on the sale of other third gens that he has sold. He is not giving them away like people think. The sale prices are catching the second gens a lot faster than realized. I do like the green Formula, just wish it wasn't a L03, or it would be in my garage.

Re: Third gen prices
I agree on the Formula...I like it more than the IROC, and its 1/2 the price
I think down the road, Formulas are going to be more and more in demand as the supply continues to dwindle.
At this point, I'd bet a Formula is rarer than a GTA!

Re: Third gen prices
I know a friend of mine totoaled three 350 Formulas in the early 90's within two years. Almost totaled himself twice. I know it is rare to see one around here. Not even trashed ones. Chuck, who ownes the dealer, had a black tpi 5 speed Formula last fall. I tried to buy that one but I was like fifth in line. He sold it to a guy in Chicago for a little over $15,000.

My B4C has the base seats and I love them. It has every performance option short of 1LE, and the only other options it has are the 4 speakers, AC, and radio delete. It didn't even come with factory floormats. The RPO sheet is 3 and a half lines, one of the shortest I've seen.

Just another factor in the slight increase in values over the past year or two, used cars across the board are worth more right now. More people are looking for used than in the recent past. I have seen selling prices of just about everything used go up a little.

Really like that low mileage B4C you have.
I had the same base cloth seats in my 91 305 tbi 5 speed. Loved that car.

Re: Third gen prices
The prices are rising and will continue to rise on 3rd gens. What seems weird to me is that people on this site are pissed off by this. Why? Alot of the cars have been wrecked and or abused, the special cars ( TTA, SLP FH, 1LE etc) were rare to begin with and required forsight to purchase. Clean low mile cars should be worth more and clean, well taken care of models should demand good money. What the hell is wrong with that? The 3rd gen body style is a classic design, distinctively American, followed up by a fat, generic style. 3rd gens will attract more money than 4th gens soon. Why is that a problem.

Re: Third gen prices
really nice thirdgens already often sell for more than good 4th gens;a local dealer had a mint,30000 mile,86
T/A priced at $9880 and a nice 2002 z28 priced at
$8880
a few other local prices were 7500 for a clean 1 owner
'84 T/A(i was quite interested, but it sold almost
instantly)and a clean '83 z28 for 6500-was too late on
that one too
most recent one was a 305 '91 RS for
$1500 in fair to decent shape.
