What is this code D8F. I can only find it is a speed sensor but for what there was only 1,221 cars with this rpo code for 91.

I did a search and found that there was 3 options for speed sensors what replaced what what is the advantage of each what is better?

There are a handful of D8* codes for different vehicle speed sensors. The only time it matters is when ordering a replacement VSS. The advantage of one over another is that one will work with you car, and the other probably won't.

why would they have multiple sensors for the same year same drivetrain doesnt make sense to me

Does it really matter? The bottom line is that's how they did it. When you go to order a replacement VSS (even at the local auto parts store) the computer lists two or three options, each with about 3 RPO codes indicating which one it replaces. I've never seen a reason to look into it any further, when they go bad it's just easiest to order the right one and swap it out.
