Hey guys, so what happened to all of the unique thirdgens that GM and other companies developed? I'm talking about the Fire Fox, that 4.3 V6 twin turbo IROC, the TTA with the 6-speed vette transmission, etc. I think it would be stellar to see new pics of them.

The bulk of them didn't meet emissions requirements, so they were destroyed when they were done with them. Some of them made it into collections and were later destroyed. A small percentage are probably still being preserved...
I was afraid to hear that... I knew that GM loved crushing stuff, like the EV1.

I know the Firefox may have been turned into the Twin turbo 6 speed IRS TA that was sold at BJ a couple years back, the 88 IROC Concept with the F40 style wing is still around, the Banshee I saw in person a couple years back, its part of the Heritage collection. There are more than a couple of Type K wagon TAs floating around. The Yellow 4.3 might still exist, not sure about that one, as of the mid 90s the original proposal car for the Heritage Camaro with the 6 speed was still around. They're out there. As much as GM crushed cars, more survived than one might think. I'd hedge a bet that some of them are still trotted out at shows.
I have often wondered if anyone had the idea of replicating some of the cars that showed in the mags. For example, the Twin Turbo TA with the 6 speed and IRS could be replicated because it was featured in a test sometime in 91 or so. Just takes someone to say why not and just do it.

You could build better project cars following a different plan, now... Considering how technology has changed and the parts that are/aren't available now.

Yea that is true, but just for the s***s and giggles factor it would be fun. You are definitely right though. I could probably run with that TA in the quarter with mine when done, though while I might top out at 170 that thing would blow past 200.....Originally Posted by Drew
