Re: Does anyone know How???

Do a search of this forum for original invoice and you'll find information on who to contact to get them.

Also just an FYI, the 1982 Camaro seats were vinyl. Leather wasn't available until 1987.

Re: Does anyone know How???

Well the car only had two owners and I'm the second and the first didn't touch the car. Everything was dry rotted and leaky I had to go through it. The leather came with it thats why I want to find production numbers because eveRyone says that's rare to have leather

Re: Does anyone know How???

the dealer can't get the information for an 82. You need to contact the media archives for an invoice.

In an 82 Camaro, it is rare to have leather. It's so rare, it's non existant! There was no leather in Camaros in 1982. The seats, unless reupholstered, are vinyl. The production numbers are zero.

Re: Does anyone know How???

Generally, only the no-option cars came with vinyl.

Rare? Sure! But desirable? I would say not.

That's debatable

I will say that vinyl holds up to wear better than any other material.

Different strokes for different folks though. I think vinyl's gotten a bad name since about the only place you see it in new vehicles is in stripped-down trucks and fleet cars.

Re: Does anyone know How???

Looks to me like the car was ordered with the standard interior instead of the deluxe which seems odd to me since the car has power windows. Are the door panels cloth or vinyl?

Re: Does anyone know How???

That looks like the Camaro deluxe interior to me. The base interior was shared between the Camaro and Firebird. It had very basic front seats with squared-off integral head rests and vinyl heat pressed door panels.

Re: Does anyone know How???

The high back buckets covered in vinyl were the base standard interior in early thirdgen Camaros. The "custom" interior upgraded to the seats with an adjustable headrest. The top of the line seats were the LS Conteur seats.

Vinyl wasn't really common because it was cheap, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, did I mention it gets HOT after it sits in sun for a few hours? Most Sport Coupe's even came with the upgraded cloth. I'm pretty sure that cloth seats were standard on the Z28.

Re: Does anyone know How???

Yes they were standard and I was under the impression that you had to custom order a Z28 with vinyl seats. However '82 was the first year of the new body style and it was the 80's, so god only knows what was going on in GM's head back then.

Usually when I come across Z28s with a vinyl interior they were ordered that way special and were bare bones with very few options to keep down on weight. As in no power locks, power windows, power mirrors, A/C, or sometimes even a radio.

You have found a unique and oddly optioned car so hold on to it.

Re: Does anyone know How???

My 83 Z28 that I bought in 85 had the vinyl seats. It was also a bare bones car with manual windows, locks, no cassette, no ttops, 5 speed manual/LG4, etc...

My 82 Z28 had black vinyl seats, TTops, power windows, locks, seats, LU5, positraction, rear carpet, hard locking cargo cover, etc... So this car came fully loaded and still had the vinyl seats. Not sure why though.

Re: Does anyone know How???

Standard and Deluxe AKA Custom interior both used high back front seats in '82. The Lear Siegler seat option had adjustable head rests.

Vinyl and cloth were available on both style interiors.

FWIW, you could get leather seats with the deluxe interior on '82 Firebirds. It wasn't cheap at $844 which is probably the reason why Chevrolet chose to stay with vinyl. The Camaro was usually marketed as the more affordable F-body.
