Once again a proud 3rd Gen owner! G92 question
Just picked up a 1991 Firebird Formula 305/5speed. Ive had 4 other 3rd Gens over the years, but Ive been without one for 5 years until today. Yes, pics will be coming. Heres my question:
It has GU6, G80, J65, N10, and KC4. So that makes it a G92 car, right? Shouldnt it have the RPO "G92" like others do? Or did GM not print it on this year or model?

"G92" only means the car has an optional, upgraded, rear axle ratio. For G92 to appear, you have to have two axle ratios available. 91-92 Firebirds with the L98 or LB9/5spd didn't have optional ratios. LB9/5spds came with 3.42s and L98s came with 3.23s.
G92 doesn't really apply to 91 Firebirds. R6P does, but it doesn't seem to always be there when the parts of the package are there. With the right combination of options it's redundant anyway, since basically all LB9/5spd or L98 91-92 Firebirds had the typical "g92" parts standard. You couldn't get a wussified LB9/5spd or L98 Firebird in 91 or 92. They all had good gears, dual cats, oil cooler, blah blah blah.
