RPO Code question

Sorry if this has been asked a million times. I have looked all over my Z-28 for the RPO Codes, can't find them. I'm the 3rd owner, but I've had my '83 for 20+ years. I'm thinking one of the previous owners removed the sticker with the codes.

Is there any way to find out what the codes are without that sticker?

Re: RPO Code question

The 83s didn't have the sticker. You need to contact Allied Vaughn and request a copy of the original invoice. Do a search for them on this forum and you'll find their contact info.

Re: RPO Code question

To expand a little on what Scott already explained... The SPID started in 1984. From 1984 to 1991 it was always in the console glove box. Half way through the 1991 production run, the SPID was moved from the console to the locking glove box in the trunk. It'll only ever be in those two locations. As always the first step should always be to compare the VIN on the SPID to the VIN on the car to make sure it's from the same car.

Unless there is something specific you're looking for, RPO codes aren't all that useful anyway.

Re: RPO Code question

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to find out what kind of radio came with my car. The original has long since been removed, looking to put the same kind back in it.

Re: RPO Code question

Speaking of RPO codes , I have a 1987 iroc and need to replace my power steering gearbox , only problem is they need to know the suspension code for the car. They said its either FE2 or F41, I believe one is standard and the other is a sport suspension. The center console has been replaced by previous owner so i do not have the RPO codes. How can I find out what suspension is in the car if there is no more code label.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks

You should have FE2.
