My gut tells me the price is about $4,000-5,000 too high, but man, what a pretty car...

Personally, because of the LG4, I wouldn't want it, but I can see why someone else would. I can see someone paying $8-9k for it if the lack of TPI doesn't bother them.

Definitely shiny, and definitely nice but if I were going to pay anywhere between 8-12 grand for a third gen it'd better at least have an LT-1 in it lol

 

I don't really think it's all that far out of line considering it's a dealer price and not a private sale. Let's face it... that car is much more rare than an IROC with the same mileage/condition. The number of potential buyers may be smaller due to the lower trim level, but that's a niche market to begin with.

 

Nice ride, but you'd have to be out of your gourd not to pay $8k more for the 3,300 mile Mach1 behind it.

That said, you'd have to be out of your gourd to pay $20k for a 10 year old Mach1 as well.

Gotta love those muscle car dealers, always sky high prices.

 

And that indeed is the issue...they always wait for the sucker to show up. Granted, I deal in "normal" cars, but still...inventory turn is the key to making money. Anyone knows that. And yet, these speciality dealers will sit on cars FOREVER, it seems.

Guess you wouldn't like me then...I own 3 third gens that I have between 8-13k in, from purchase price to maintenance updates. None have an LT1, nor will they!

And yet, I feel ok with that because all 3 are about as close to perfect as you can get, and none have over 34k miles on them...

 

Not sure why you'd want the LT1 instead of the L98 for that price. The LT1 isn't that great of an upgrade over the L98s and in that price range, the car should be original. I wouldn't pay that for a car with an LT1!!

I noticed the door panels have lost their pattern as many 87s have. They might want to consider fixing that before asking top dollar.

 

Ehhh... There sure seem to be a LOT more 87 LT's out there then the production numbers reflect. At that price I doubt that car is going anywhere fast. Even with 7,900 miles the door panels are "fallen".

 

It is a low mileage LT with t-tops but not fully loaded. If it had leather, Bose system, then yea, $12,000 would be a good price. More if it were a convertible.

 

id say 6-to maybe 8,000 but 12,900 is really pushing it

 

As for the doors losing their pattern, I totally agree wity Scott on the 1987's that all seem to have that problem.

The optional custom interior door panels (standard on all LT's) would have a similar pattern like the ones on the back seats. That angled "tucked" look. But over time, they stretch out.

 

I wouldn't say they stretch out... The adhesive GM used lets the cloth separate from the backing. Since the pattern is in the backing, when the glue fails the cloth just returns to it's original state (flat).

 

I always have hated those ugly wheels.

 

At least in silver they don't look as tacky as they did in gold.

 

not to stray this too off topic, but I'd love to fix my door cards, mine have done the exact same thing... is it even possible? I did a search but came up cold.

 

Sure, remove the door panel caps, pull back the cloth, spray the back of the cloth and the door panel with spray glue, let dry until it's tacky, and slowly press the cloth back into place. Keep in mind once it touches, it's stuck forever. Use an automotive grade 3M spray glue if you want them to stay stuck in summer temps.

 

Yall are talking like an LT-1 is so cool and fast, but the speedometer only goes to 85!

A Deloreon could cream that thing.........and if it couldn't, well at least you could go back in time put a potato in the camaro's tailpipe.

 

Trust me, the car can do more than 85. It was a stupid law where certain vehicles could only have an 85 m.p.h. speedometer. Besides, swaping out to a 145 m.p.h. speedometer is an easy thing if the 85 seems lame.

 

At least the 85 speedo makes the car FEEL faster...watch that needle tear around the gague!!

 

And don't forget when you hit light speed when the needle bounces off the trip reset stem. LOL
