originality resource?

two years ago, when I was looking into a "I'm turning 40, I need a hobby car" car, I bought this book

http://www.amazon.com/Collectors-Ori...0897123&sr=8-1

I ate it up, memorized every detail because I wanted to buy a car that I didn't have to rebuild from scratch to make it right. However, close to original 2nd gens are next to impossible to find, and those that were still close were so far out of my price range they might as well have been one million $$$. That brought me to the third gens, which I was familiar with because I owned an 85 sport coupe a few years ago

Has it ever been discussed here about putting together a book like this for third gens, or at least having a website dedicated to providing photos and information for those wanting to restore their car's originality?

Right now I'm shopping for a nice third gen for my wife, and I'm really getting sick of 9 out of ten cars that have been ripped apart, gutted, made into track cars or rollers, and just in general hopped up or trashed out

Car for your wife huh? For the same price as a 5 year old, well used Honda Civic, you can buy a pristine 3rd gen.

There will be a restoration guide out there one day, it's just not time yet. Just like repop parts, the demand just isn't there yet.

What do you think the History/Restoration forum of TGO is?

Re: originality resource?

you must not be familiar with the type of guide I'm talking about. For every year model, you have photographs from every angle, detailing every detail of the cars as they appeared out of the factory. Changes from year to year are detailed and documented.

There's nothing like that on this site, at least not without struggling through 10 years worth of posts to try to find a post, 3/4 of which have dead links instead of images

What about the GM Heritage site? You can download every detail on your model year camaro. This site is awesome. I have mine for my 88 Camaro downloaded and use it all the time. I think this will have everything you are looking for.
