Vins dont Match/ Or I Was Lied Too

I own a 1988 Firebird GTA, i was told that it had a 350 in her. After finally started working on the car, i noticed that the vin # thats on the title dosnt match the car "fully". Also according to my book its says it has a 305 in it.
The vin # thats on the car is ( 1G2FW21F8JL24645 ) under wood and on door, The vin # thats on my title is ( 1GZFW21F8J624645) that # dosnt match anything that i can find.

Not sure sure how to tell the difference from a 350 or a 305, anyu info would be helpful, Thanks

honestly the person before you was probably just dumb and thought it was a 350 becuase it had 8 cylinders.

there should be a casting number on the block that will tell you what it is

Looks like someone at the license office made an error. I'm sure you could take it in and they could correct it or here in MIssouri we take it to the Highway Patrol to have documentation performed. Not the end of the World on the title. The engine.... well according to the VIN it is a 305 car.

A handwritten 2 can look like a Z, and an L can look like a 6.

Your car came with an LB9 305 from the factory. What's in it now is anyone's guess, you need the engine casting numbers, since a 305 and 350 look identical.

This is right. Your 1G2 VIN on the car is correct, and it's a 305.

On the engine block between the drivers side cylinder head and the bellhousing it's cast into the block if it's the original engine. It should read 5.0 LG, unless it has been swapped.
