I had never seen this before. Does anyone else have this, who could post pics? particularly of the other 2 colors, camel and black? I think this might have been one year only. 1986 would have been Lear Seigler or Recaro, both of which were better, and too good to continue offering.

This is a code 82E interior, which is pallex cloth on custom seats with leather inserts. In 1987, trans ams (and even gta's) didn't have full leather seats available like they did in 1988-1992. At least gta's and ta ragtops could get full leather anyway, from 88-92.

But here is the only way to get leather in an 87. It is partial leather, and I wonder if you could order this in a gta in 87?

This is a vary rare option. probably less than 50 cars had this partial leather in the grey color. I know there was 65 in camel (code 62e), and 144 in black (code 19e), with the partial leather.

According to my 1987 order sheet, leather/pallex combo seats don't have an option code on the sheet for the GTA like they do for the Trans AM, making it appear it wasn't available. It looks like it simply wasn't available to the articulating seats.

By the way it's a 350 powered Trans Am. Don't see those often either.

 

That car looks brand new! Talk about a collector piece! I think $31k might be high but its definitely worth a premium for the right buyer

Man, that's gotta be stupid ridiculously rare.

Unfortunately, I still prefer the GTA/Ultima seats as they're 10x more adjustable and look better IMO, even if they're still cloth.

 

Not to unintentionally reboot an old thread, but was curious to see more about this option. My 87 actually has the tan 62e option. I've been to the T/A Nats both years that I've had it restored (bought in 2010), have never come across it and I was being asked if it was a custom thing. Sadly, the SPID is gone, but I did get the dealer sheet from GM that contains the code. For those interested, I'll get some pictures of it up.

Including yours and the OP seats, that's the second set I've seen! Gives me ideas for my '89 Firebird gray interior. I like that.

Wish I had that color sceam. I have the Carmine, but it has gronw on me. I have never seen the lether/colth combo.

 

I have been parting out third gen birds for 10+ years and have NEVER seen those seats !!! And if I had I would have sworn they were custom made,NOT a factory option.I'm SLAPPED in awww !!!!!!!

It wouldn't be altogether a bad idea to use the images as a template for some aftermarket/homemade covers, for no other reason than they just look very nice in these cars!
