who knows about this colour?

ok,here goes again .i have a 86 z-28 camaro built at the van nuys factory. it carries the paint code "66/wa-8754,which,to the best of my knowledge, didnt exist.for instance the website "camarosource.ca" has it that only two cars with that paint code were made (which is probably BS) its like a coppery metallic colour.the trim tag on my rad. brace has this #wa-8754 my VIN # 1G1FP87F8GL181932. it seems that the more i try to find out about this car ,the more confused i become.who knows definitavely????? it had the saddle/tan interior that was ragged pretty bad so i changed it to a grey interior and painted the car black. i would /will post pics as soon as i find out what a photo bucket is. when i removed the interior ,the whole inside of the car is copper which leads me to believe that WAS the factory colour.who knows the answer to my riddle????? im just trying to find out the truth here. and the SPID sitcker in the console is nothing but a white mess. so i have only hints and allegations so far, please help before i go even more bonkers!!!!!

Re: who knows about this colour?

Uhh...that's not BS on the rare copper color...only 2 were made, according to the Camaro White Book.

If you've got 1 of the 2 (and chances are the other one doesn't exist anymore), then you have a ridiculously, stupid-rare car! It would be a damn shame though if that's the case as you've changed not only the exterior but also the interior color...I don't have to tell you it's not worth anything if it's currently the wrong color.

...and then we get back to the "rare does NOT equal desirable" point. Even if it WERE that color still, I'd say it wouldn't be worth much more than a red or black car as golds and coppers are generally very undesirable colors on classic/muscle cars. Unless of course you find some idiot that's willing to pay up for a ridiculously rare, but otherwise not that desirable car.

I'd say run the VIN through compnine.com if GM didn't shut them down a few months back, although IIRC there were not many 86's in the database. I suppose you might try calling a Chevrolet dealer with the VIN and see if they can run it through their database and tell you the color code. Copper should be code 66.

As a side note, there were also only 4 cars painted Light Brown that same year before that color was dropped too.

Re: who knows about this colour?

I've never seen a wa number on a tag on the radiator core support before, usually the numbers that are on the RH side of the support are job sequence numbers. do you have any pictures of the tag that shows the wa # ? Although Chevrolet figures show only 2 cars in that rare color,. They were probably built early in the production run and never released for retail sale, Judging from your VIN, your car probably was built around April 1986,. it would be highly unusual if this car is one of the 2 produced, but anything is possible..
