new member, fan of site, looking at an 89 iroc w 305 tpi, problem is speedo is a 115, is it possible depending on when it was made that it may have features of previous year? thanks for any input

 

I'm not going to swear to this, but in the later years, I think the 305 cars got 115's and the 350 cars got 145's.

 

from my research 88 irocs w 305 tpi got 115 mph and 89 irocs w 305 tpi got 145 mph, its in great shape with 59k miles and everything appears original and correct except the speedometer

 

My 89 Iroc vert with 305 TPI originally had a 115 mph speedometer

 

I have an 88 that was originally a 305 car and it has a 115 speedo. Im pretty sure that a previous poster in this thread is right that in later years the 305s got the 115 and the 350s got the 145. Doesnt mean you cant put a 145 in your car.

 

Which 83's came with the 85mph speedo?

 

All Camaros came with 85 speedos until the late 86 model year if I am not mistaking.

Unless the car came from the Factory with speed rated tires (245/50/VR16 Wheels & Tires were a extra cost option) you got a 115MPH speedometer. 5000 + IROC's went this route with non-speed rated tires.
