It lost to a Pontiac Montana. End of story.

LMAO, you lost to a Montana (I hate it when that happens)! Are you sure it was a stock? It might have been a sleeper. All those stories are awesome, I love hearing stuff like this. The best cars have so many memories attached to them.

Sorry Richboll, I know it's all way off topic.... but it was so hilarious! Yes, I think we do need a thread titled "Car Memories". Copy and paste Jason E's stories into it, and then everybody can add their own stories to it too.

Eh, its my thread...I can take it off topic

For those following my other post, I have no idea how this is going to go, but I've broached the subject with wifey about keeping the 86, and storing my new 2000 SS in her garage. I'm treading lightly...not sure what this will end up costing me

I've had a lot of cars in my life and some of them will always mean more than others because of the memories associated with them. Maybe we need a new thread started about "Car Memories"
I created a thread called "Best memories in your 3rd gen" and it was killed by a op since there was no proper group and was told it wasnt about the car.

I have several nice memories to share abt my 86 but feel it should be in a proper thread. ops?? can we ?

NOPE! Not in the History/Originality section.

You guys have already taken this way off topic and isn't really contributing to the original question anymore. Do we need to lock this or can we all get back on topic?

I like this "power" thing I have! It's kinda cool! "No soup for you!"

Re: Thoughts on mild mods vs. original on a low mileage car...

Is there a category where we can have this discussion? this is part of our history with these cars as much as the cars themselves....

Like: My t-tops blew off while travelling
I have had a cop tell me and my date to move.. while shining her lights on my car which had a flat tire and not telling me.
finding a glove in my engine bay next to the exhaust manifold smoking.. left by a line worker
taking a thirdgen on prom and the things that happen (racing in a tux. etc.)
etc.
etc.
where do these go? else create a new grouping!

1) If I don't bring this back to topic, this might be the FIRST thread I've originated that got locked on TGO. Ever.

2) How do I become moderator?

3) OK, so about those RA I hoods...anyone on here have any commentary on the fit? Finish? I need to talk to someone with experience...

Well, it is a history of sorts, and you have to agree that the stories are original, hence it fits with the History/Originality concept...................

Now about those hoods. I haven't ever seen an aftermarket hood that I prefer to the stock Z/28-IROC-Z-Trans AM (power bulge)-Formula (twin snorkle) hoods, but thats because I prefer the stock look to anything really outrageous. That being said, my favorite is still a moderate height cowl induction hood.

every thread that has more than 10 posts usually goes off topic at some point. thats what makes them interesting.

it also makes it hard to use the search function and thus is bad. And it also makes people post questions alot because search sucks and it all stems from OT posts like this one : D

Re: Thoughts on mild mods vs. original on a low mileage car...

I asked Scott about making a category that could support open discussion. this is the reply

TGO is a tech only site. There isn't a free chat area to discuss non technical issues. We get lenient at times and allow some free discussion, but too much and we reign it in.

so I thought it was about the third gens and not just technical.. but I guess I am wrong?

Re: Thoughts on mild mods vs. original on a low mileage car...

TGO has been a tech-only board for the 12 years I've been around...

As for the final assessment on the subject car, I'm going to leave it close to stock and probably put a different exhaust on it one of these days. I'm also going to put a decent system in it (playing through my stock period-correct Pontiac CD player) because while I can handle stock performance, stock tunes are not an option.

Thanks to everyone for their opinions. No matter what, I love my damn mudflaps and pinstripe

All I have to say is keep it original, or make sure that its reversible to original...

At most exhaust. Get a healthy number in your head like 300rwhp, reach it with tasteful bolt ons, and leave the body alone.
