I have one of the 1983 HO Z/28's. I know we don't have info to break down how many were built with particular options. Mine is Dark Brown with the brown contour interior. I am thinking this one is not very common.
Here is what I know...3223 HO cars built.
I know calculated numbers are not actual...but...I got it from somewhere 6.17% of all Camaros that year were brown. If I apply that to the 3223, roughly 200 were brown. Then cross the 200 with the dark brown contour interior and who knows from there....
Anyone have any other info?

I'd be VERY surprised if your car was not 1 of 1 with those options/colors.

Brown with brown LS Conteur and HO in '83, has got to make it pretty darned rare. If it's not 1 of 1, it has to be close....

I'd say with the particular color, and the contour interior, it HAS to be rare. Not to mention I know the production numbers posted are only calculated but I think it's a safe bet the '83 HO's are the rarest of the L69 models since they were'nt even produced till mid-year.

From what I can recall of that color combo, there was a reason it was "rare"...
"Rare" sometimes belongs in the category of "be careful what you ask for in case you get it".
But yeah, there weren't many like that.
In fact, if I was the guessing kind, I'd guess that its first title was issued in Sept or Oct of 83; i.e. at "get it the hell off our lot so we can put something in this year's model that will SELL in here instead" pricing.
Mine incidentally is silver, bright silver gfx, gray velour interior. If memory serves, those cars hit the dealerships in April, and the first title on mine was issued in May.

Sadly, my best friend and I had to crush his '83 L69 Z28 about a year and a half ago, after an aborted 9 year resto attempt on it. With 176k on it, there was just too much rust to overcome (the 7 years it sat outside, covered, on concrete, did more damage than he thought). The firewall and both front strut towers had holes, and when we were trying to weld in new floorboards, there just wasn't enough metal left around the floorboards to safely weld them in...we were burning right through it
It too was briar brown with brown cloth, but it was the optional custom cloth, standard seats...not Conteur...

HMMMM... My build sheet date is June 16,1983 and the Dealer assigned the car to the new owner June 27, 1983,so it was not on the lot very long. I have had many people tell me they like the colors..as it is different.

What I'd like to know is why we have a member from 2002 that is still marked a "Junior Member"?

# of posts...
I know that! That's what I'm referring to. Eighteen posts in 10 years. Not been very active on the forums I see.
I don't get it. One guy makes fun of my car and the Moderator complains that i don't post enough. Really makes a guy feel welcome here. Due to Work and Family time, I don't have time to be here that often. I thought this web site was dedicated to true Camaro Enthusiasts. Looks more like cut downs and post numbers. What a shame.

With all due respect, I think its obvious people are just joking around with you...especially Scott. My advice? Enjoy this site, welcome to our humble board, and relax a little.
Do you know how often I get razzed for owning 3 of these silly things???

I think you're taking my comments too seriously. If you look at my post, I had a smiley at the back side of the comments. I was surprised to see a member from 2002 with only 18 posts. Usually, the account credentials are forgotten and a new account is created in these circumstances. I was just commenting that we don't see "junior members" with accounts created 10 years ago. It was all lighthearted. Not a complaint at all!
As far as the comments about your car from other members, that's just their opinion. Obviously, they don't like brown Camaros. It wasn't a hot selling color and if you like it, that's all that matters.
Since you haven't been frequenting the boards over the past 10 years, you are unaware that on almost a daily basis, a new member joins the forums to ask how rare their car is. This is not anything against you, but the regulars have seen it so much that they roll their eyes when they see another post about it. You might have a 1 of 1 built, but that doesn't make it any more valuable with the general production cars. The only cars that will carry any special value are specialty cars that are also limited in production, like an 89 TTA without TTops and with fabric seats, or 1 of the 4 88 1LE cars. In this example, the 89 TTA is "special" in it's own right being a higher performing model and limited to 1555 built. Now restrict the few cars that didn't have leather and you just made a rare car, rarer.
Again, don't take my comments personally. I was just commenting on my surprise to seeing a ten year old account with junior status. That's it!

I don't do much on net forums, so I probably missed the inflection. My apologies to the moderator. Okay, back on topic. I do appreciate the help. My purpose for posting had nothing to do with the car’s value. I never said anything about that. I think it adds to the car at car shows and cruises to say this is one of probably a handfull. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
As for my brown car... I have owned it since 1988. It has been stored every winter since and garage kept. I have worked at General Motors as an Engineer for 29 years, the same age as my car. I have seen every hot color combo of every hot car we have sold around these grounds for up to 2 years before they were available. Some of them, I have worked on from cradle to grave. So when it comes to my actually buying one, I try to look for something unique/different/interesting.. My car is all of those things, but certainly not "ugly". I love it.My wife loves it. My son loves it. Sofaking doesn't like it. I think I can live with that
"
I asked here for info on the car as this info does not seem to be around GM anymore.
