New 1LE...
So, got wind today that they're bringing back the 1LE nameplate for a new 5th gen Camaro next year.
The car is getting a new interior set to handle a 7" touch screen radio, and yes, it will have AC and heat.
I think this is a disgrace! What do you guys think about this? Do you also think this is a total slap in the face to all the heritage and history about the RPO 1LE?
The 1LE was meant to be a stripper car with nothing but the essentials for serious performance and racing capability. This new 1LE defies that by offering amenities such as heat/AC and the radio...

And before you think this has nothing to do with this forum or section, I think this has a lot of bearing on the original TRUE 1LE cars and their heritage....

Re: New 1LE...
Ok guys, don't be so womanly in your reaction. The original 1LE will always be remebered and cherished among the car crowd for what it was, a "racecar" the consumer could buy. We live in a different day and age than the original 1LE. People would not dream of paying $30,000+ for a car without air conditioning. Its not a disgrace. Its cool that performance has reached a point where the manufacturers are producing several performance packages other than just slow, fast, and stupidly fast. It brings back the little touches and uniqueness we love so much about our cars, even if only slightly. Maybe the customization of performance cars off the dealer's floor will come back. I hope it will. And as for the fact that they announced the 1LE package and didn't leave it obscure like the original, think of all the guys that wanted exactly what the original 1LE offered back in the late 80's but didn't get it because they had no idea it existed. In my mind, Chevy is righting a wrong in announcing this performance package for the enthusiast. This is a very cool thing and should be treated as such, not bemoaned due to the lack of a throwback.
