That looks like a control for a capacitive discharge ignition. I could be wrong, and am definately not the expert. CD ignitions fire the spark multiple times compared to every one firing for a standard ignition. I have an MSD on my boat with a 454 engine, and it improved the performance of the engine a lot. Some people will tell you that CD ignitions are prone to problems, so if that is indeed what you have, you may not want to install it. I really can't imagine a 92 needing that thing, since it is already controled by your computer. But I am certainly not the expert. Maybe others will offer more detailed information.
