average price for 16" 2 line wheels

Hey guysm I'm in central CA and am negotiating some 16" - 2 line wheels for my '89. The guy was trying to get $350 but tires are aged and worn so I'm basically looking at just the rims.

The one I saw is in decent shape but will need major cleaning/polishing and the color stripped and repainted. Currently blue and am thinking about color matching the red car.

I told em $200 and he wants $225 but think the 2 might be pushing it.

Thoughts??? Thx.

Re: average price for 16" 2 line wheels

I'm uncertain of what an average price might be. I've purchased two sets. The first set was marred by a bit of curb rash and some damage under the balance weights. The tires were useless. $200 for those. The second second was far better. No tires. $300 for that set.

I've sold two sets, both for $200.

Re: average price for 16" 2 line wheels

ok, so asking for average price was kind of out there but knowing what you've done lets me know that my offer is in line.

I'd see a set listed on c-list about every other week but usually the pre-86 type or 1 or 2 lines that have been polished to a chrome shine and I don't like either.

I told the guy to wait and see if he gets closer to what he's asking before accepting my offer.......which was basically until I get some board feedback.

thanks.

Re: average price for 16" 2 line wheels

Update:
16" chrome plated 2-line wheels are sitting in my garage wrapped in weather cracked tires after handing over 2 hun for em.
The blue and chrome plating has to come off. I can handle the paint but what about the chrome?
The shop wants $160 to strip putting me at $360 total which is near typical polished wheel price with good tires.
Can I remove the chrome myself(if so....how) or am I at a loss???

Thx
