looking for info 89 GTA
i ran the vin and it says it's a 350 car
t-top,disk rear,radio control on wheel but regular dash
i am sure this is a real GTA but i thought they all had digital dash
is the transmission a standard 7004r
where on the car can i find a trim plate or something that can tell me the options?

In the console you may find the RPO list.By the way that console looks,it's probably not there anymore.It looks like you have a stick shift!!!!that would not be a 700R4.

The digital dash was basically no longer available in the 1989 production models. Additionally, the digital dash was an option on both GTA and Trans Am. It was not a standard option. Therefore, that is not a way to determine a GTA or not.
Look for the SPID on the inside wall of the center console and look for RPO code Y84 for the GTA option. If the SPID is not there, you can order an invoice for the car from GM Archives which will show if the vehicle has the GTA option (RPO code Y84) or not:

SPID sticker or invoice with Y84 RPO code are the only iron clad authentification methods.

That car is an auto-that is the B&M shifter in there. Looks like a GTA to me, but like was said-run the RPO codes if you have them. If the trans is original then it would be a 700R4. Also like was said the digital dash was an option.

Yeah, you'd think so, but it's just one of those hideous aftermarket B&M automatic shifters that looks like a manual, has no gear indicator, and is nearly impossible to get in/out of park or any gear for that matter. "Classy, professional" installation too it looks like...who needs a shift plate/upper console when you have a shifter that looks this cool?

Hi There! I have a question the GTA's don't have the fender vent? Or do some have the vent? The GTA's I have seen online had no fender vents. Just wondering. Cheers..
