Project car do-over ?
I see a wide variety of people and the cars they like on here. Some with enough money to buy a really nice low miles car and others couldn't afford to own one if it wasn't a cheap project car. I am the latter picking up my 84 for $500. But i will be several thousand into it at least by the time most of the stuff i want is done and i was asked if i had it to do over again would i just save money for a few years instead of the project.
and i think i would still go for the project just for the learning experience alone such as my first engine swap even with all of the cuts and bruises.
So what was your project experience like and would you do it all over again?

Re: Project car do-over ?
Well both my cars are far from perfect, but both run and drive good. The TA i'm going to leave alone as it's cool the way it is now 95% original. The Camaro is a project and so far it's fine, but I have just started working on it so we shall see. Really IMO it's always better to start with a nicer car with less to do, but if you know what your doing then a cheap project car is not a bad way to go. I did pay way more than $500.00 for both my car's so you might have alot more to do then I do.

Re: Project car do-over ?
I'm in the middle of my pace car restoration. I knew going in it would have been way easier to save more money and buy something that needed less work. However, in my case I wanted a project and I knew going in I will have way more money in it than it's worth when I'm done.
Once this one is done, I doubt I'd do another one. Mostly because of cost but once I do this project I won't have the need or desire to do another one.

I feel good with my 84 trans am but its my 68 mustang that i am not even remotely close to done with and with the money i have tied up into it i could have bought a really nice early 90's vette, so not so happy with that project but still i press on.

Re: Project car do-over ?
Yeah any project car is going to be a money pit, but the old one's like a 68 stang are always a huge money pit if you want to do them right. As it sits right now I have a bit less in both my cars then buying one nice IROC really, so not too bad. Like said I'm going to leave the TA alone for awhile and just drive it now and then to keep the miles low, the Camaro is the one I'm going to drive more when done, too bad it's a V6 hard top and the TA is a LB9 T-tops LOL!
