1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
I'm looking to buy this car but wondering if it's worth the price or less/more. Everything looks correct except the paint. Repainted with pearl. BUT, coming from a big time guy car myself, it looks very nice in person. Its got GTA tags on it but don't think they even made any. Does have WS6 but no rear disc. It is super clean. LB9 motor. What do you guys think?

Re: 1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
I'll let others address the price, but WS6 no longer included rear disc brakes in 1992 (and several years prior to 1992). Additionally, no 1992 T/A convertible had the rear disc brakes from the factory. The LB9 was the best engine you could get in the 1991/1992 T/A Convertibles, although the 5-speed manual is much more rare and may be more desirable to some, as the L98/B2L 350 was not available. The INFL RES is for the driver's side airbag and it means a fault is detected if the light comes on and stays on after the "bulb check".
You are correct that there was no 1991/1992 GTA Convertible from GM.

$7999 does not seem unreasonable... If it was original I would say jump on it, the custom paint is nice if you like that kind of paint, pearl yellow is something you see on a 1950's hot-rod or a Old Person's Cadillac, not a Firebird. Jamaica Yellow is just tough to beat.
I noticed that in his NADA price picture he added the 350 which was NA on the convertible...

Re: 1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
Thanks fellas. I know the paint doesn't belong on there. I mentioned it and he just said that almost everyone wouldn't notice. I told I did and was looking for original being such a rare car. I did look nice though. Not too much pearl at all really. Kinda had too look closely at it. I was trying to do a trade with him but couldn't come to an agreement. So I called again this morning to talk better numbers with him and said someone was on there way. When I left yesterday someone drove up just as I was leaving. I'll try him back in a little bit I guess to see.
So I take it that it's just a fare price, not like a steal or anything?
I was kinda thinking OKFOZ would say something as I see he has a lot of knowledge on this particular car.

Re: 1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
Yes, John is very knowledgeable. I have a red 1992 T/A Convertible with the LB9/5-speed myself. I think TTOP350 (Tony) has one that is similar to yours as his is Jamaica Yellow with the black trim: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/album.php?albumid=5689
Of the 663 T/A Convertibles in 1992 the majority of them had WS6 and the automatic transmission. Of the Firebird and T/A Convertibles, my understanding is there was approximately only 54 that were Jamaica Yellow.

Re: 1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
You probably know this and it was just the wording, but for clarification, you don't need the WS6 package to get the 16" wheels. I have the 16" wheels despite no WS6. They are the "GTA" (gold) wheels as the gold - which was once restricted to just the GTA - later became available on the T/A Convertible with certain trim.
After all the relevant issues have been addressed, paint colour is the absolute lowest topic of conversation to real car guys. A 92 T/A convertible with the LB9/ 5 speed in red is approaching ultimate third gen territory, however the same in JY would trump it. Never seen one of those. If one ever comes up, you know the guy that ordered it originally would have gone with the 16" WS6 package.

P.S. Convertible body might be better off with slightly softer springs/shocks/sway bars/bushings anyway.

Re: 1992 Jamainca Yellow Convertible T/A
Well. The last guy to look at it didn't really know what he was looking at as far as the rarity of the car. He was just looking for a car for his wife from what the sales guy told me. The sales guy is the owner. Just him and his wife run the place. He's a pretty cool guy. He has an IROC sitting right next to it that is his. A red 1989 Convertible as well. He knows I'm interested in it but just can't work with him on trade value so I ran my truck over to a public auction today for a quick but reasonable sale. Also did that because I didn't hear from him until later today so I kinda figured he sold it. But been trying to get rid of this truck pretty quickly anyways. Doesn't help that I am out of town starting tomorrow for 7-8 days so that's why I did the auction.
The sales guy said someone else took a look at it and he thought for sure he just wanted to actually see a JY Vert. He said I'm the only one that knows what I'm looking at. I came in with all the numbers wrote down and was reading off what all I knew about it. All info gathered from here the last two days.
We'll see what happens. Bad timing on leaving town Satunday morning.

Yes I have a JY T/A vert. Its a WS6 car. My friend had a red 92 TA vert and it isn't a WS6 car. It had something like a 235/??/16 tire on it. I havent ever mearsured the swaybars or checked the endlinks to see if they were poly or not.
I'm not a fan of pearls because they yellow but it shouldn't be a issue on a yellow car.

That car has been for sale for quite a while. Looks like a nice car from the CL adds I have seen of it.
