I need to stay off Auto Trader late at night...

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...archRadius=300

Debating on going to look at this car. I don't like the mileage (66k), but I love everything else. Black. WS6? T-tops. 91-92 body style. I consider it a solid buy for the $7k asking, but if I could get it lower?? Even better!

What's the motive? Get back into a third gen to drive I've taken my IROC out three times this spring already. I feel guilty

The question is, for 91-92, was WS6 standard? I seem to remember 16" wheels being standard for 91-92, but not necessarily WS6. I'm ok with that...my base suspended 86 TA rode great. Thinking this might be a nice cruiser in memory of that one.

You know...the one I shouldn't have sold

Yes. Me to. I need to stay off of Autotrader/Craigslist/Ebay/etc. late night myself.

In fact, I just found a high miles, over priced, kind of rough, '79 factory 4 speed Malibu in your neck of the woods yesterday, Jason.

305 automatic? No thanks. If you're staying up late at night perusing cars for sale I would expect to come up with something better than that.

That was the argument behind selling my 86. Now I haven't stopped missing it since 3 months after I sold it My wife asked me last night "why don't you just call the guy and see if he'll sell it back to you? I don't know why you'd want it anyway...it was so ssssllllllooooowwww"...

Love my wife

Well...a call doesn't cost anything. Just sayin'.

Plus, this whole "slow" business is all relative with 3rd gens. Even the fastests production ones, can be given a run for their money by a well driven new Accord.

WS6 was not standard. I ran the VIN through Compnine and it doesn't show WS6. Remember, though, you didn't need WS6 to get the bigger 16" wheels/tires - like this one has - on the later T/As.

Re: I need to stay off Auto Trader late at night...

^^That's what I thought! Thanks for the info JT! I forgot about Compnine and being able to run 91-92s through it.

I like that it has factory CD and a power antenna. Wish it had a power seat (loved the adjustability of it in my 86). If it was a 5 speed, I would've already given a deposit over the phone!

I've just always really liked the look of a black TA or GTA with PW7s...especially in charcoal. Its too bad 91-92 TA/GTAs couldn't be had with a 350 and T-tops...that would be the ultimate third gen Firebird in my opinion...

Yep, It doesn't matter how fast or slow they are... it's more about the parts that make them up and the era they came from. They have earned a right of passage, IMO.

I mean what could be Cooler than dual exhaust that doesn't stare you in the face and the sound of an American V8.... and the list goes on.

Good points My wife was in her 04 GTP Comp G one night following me back from a car show. I tried outrunning her in the IROC...fun as hell, but on the straights she was crawling up my rear end Sure enough, looking at the numbers, my 0-60 of roughly 6.7 seconds is about .5 seconds slower than her Comp G

The one thing I will say about a 2.77 geared LB9 A4 like my 86...it might not be fast but in stock form it is SMOOTH....that car was the epitome of a great cruiser. Y99 ride quality is way > than WS6 ride quality.

I may have to see if this guy wants to trade for a 99 Wrangler

Nice looking car. I scan CL daily and hope I don't find anything worth buying. My wife would kill me if I brought anything else home. I'm already out of garage space.

IMHO that car looks like a good deal to me.

WS6 was standard GTA and FORMULA, optional on T/A.

Just to make it clear, I was speaking in the context of the 1991/1992 Trans Am as that was the basis of the discussion here given the vehicle was a 1991 Trans Am. Aside from that, WS6 was always standard on the 1987-1992 GTAs and Formulas.

Great looking car. That's why I try to stay off of Craig's list and ebay especially... late at night.

The only thing that threw me was the PW7 wheels and seeing what look like 245 tires on it. I remembered 215/60/16s being standard on 91-92 TAs, after I posted

When JT posted the SPID sheet, it confirmed my thoughts that this was originally a 215/60 equipped car.

Re: I need to stay off Auto Trader late at night...

I want to think that...
All Firebird (BASE) got 15" Wheels
All Formula & GTA got WS6 therefore they got the 245/50R16
Trans Am's came with the 215/60R16 standard, and the 245/50R16 with WS6 option
I do not believe any Trans Am's came with 15" wheels from 1990-1992, (1991 & 1992 for sure)

Beautiful looking car, id say just because it would be a nice cruiser it's worth the buy. But if your looking higher for options, this car is definitely a pass.
