finding current owner of a vehicle?
Is there a way to locate the current owner of a vehicle from the VIN?I just found the vin from my very first thirdgen on an old ins card and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to locate by using the vin..Thanks guys

About all you can do legally is run a Carfax to see if it's been registered recently or has any records, it will show city and state, but that's about it. Unfortunately VIN/current registered owner information is not available to the public.

The legality may vary state to state, but in the past I have been able to obtain a name and address using only a VIN and plate number by hiring a private investigator. They will usually do a DMV search for a flat rate (not hourly).

Well I was just wondering.I would really like to locate it.I'll call the DMV and the courthouse just to see what they say,I also have a good friend that's a PI so I may give him a shout too and see what he can come up with.Thanks guys
