Im thinking about buying a 1989 camaro iroc z g92 5 speed car, the price is 7500 firm. Its all original with 60k miles. He installed an ac unit that is non cancerous system, changed the serpentine belt, electronic hatch, the horn mechanics in the steering wheel where loose so the horn isn't plugged in. is the horn a big deal or an expensive fix? what do the cars go for, or is it what someone is willing to pay? the seller is also willing to let me get it inspected. I don't know how to work on cars so i'm just trying to be careful since i bought a 1988 5.7 iroc recently and got screwed pretty bad. This car is something i all ways wanted which is the tpi 5 speed iroc.
Thanks

Figure 1500, 1989 G92 Camaros were built. Most of those were 5.7 automatics. Can't be more than 200-400 G92 5 speeds. How many are left? Your guess is as good as mine. Yes..the car is desirable, but I guess I'm biased.
Post some pics. Where are you located?

89 is the high water mark for these cars - all the performance goodies and no ugly airbag in the steering wheel. And this one has the most desirable powertrain configuration - LB9, 5 speed, and G92 axle. The value here will be determined by the condition, which on a 60K mile, 25 year old car can vary wildly from neglected scrap pile to immaculate garage kept beauty.
Have it checked by someone that knows body and mechanical. If it checks out with no evidence of collision or rust, the price sounds reasonable.

I would say it is definitely worth it if the car is in good condition. Plus you've always wanted one... I agree with getting it checked out first.

Correct me if i am wrong but i seem to recollect that all 1500 G92 cars where 5speed 305s no 350 was made with G92 option
5speed G92 good option i would go for it.
Edit: Misinformed you could have G92 on the 89 350TPI model, sorry to say i dont have it but i like my anyway

Thanks for the help, it didn't work out. The owner raised the price and wants a down payment on the car to show i am interested, i cant risk loosing any more money and if he didn't do that i would own it by next week. If any of you guys are interested you can search iroc z in Denver CO craigslist, it looks real good in the photos. Thanks for the help

This it? It's a red twin of my '89, complete with the DX3 decal delete.

If you really want it, then show up next week with the original asking price money and he'll take it (although I'd still try to get it for less
).
He's giving you the runaround now because he doesn't want to hassle with tire kickers and others that are probably low-balling.
