Mecum KC has 4 3rd Gen's this weekend
This time around they have a 92 Firebird 5.0L Auto, a 87 Camaro z28 5.7L Auto, a 84 Trans Am manual 5.0L 15th Aniversary and on Friday a 89 Camaro IROC Z 5.0L manual.

LOL. How is a customized base model 92 Firebird worthy of a Mecum auction? Really grabbing at straws aren't they.
If that '84 15th is a factory manual that's something special tho!

That '84 must have been pretty beat on the interior and under the hood. That or the seller really should have had a reserve because no one at that auction cared lol.

I watched the auction. It was dead. At the time the 84 TA went on the block bids were few and far between. The car looked in great shape. Of course you never know for sure with TV, but I've seen similar ones on Craigs list that looked a lot worse at the same price. This was a steal.

It looks like the 92 Firebird sold for $5250 and the 89 Camaro IROC Z sold for $6500. And really these are typical prices for 3rd Gens in the Midwest.

The lower price was as much about what part of the day it was auctioned. It was early on the first day. All the cars at that time were having a hard time just getting bidders. Several cars sold to the only bidder. The people on the TV all called it a bargain. If you want a real deal on a car at these auctions, go early on the first day. I've seen other real steals on that day. Don't expect show quality, but plenty of drivers sell on these days.

AFAIK The 87 Z28 never came with a 350, that was reserved for the IROC only... Also the wrong wheels makes it look like a teenager car...
