Engine block number resurface
Hello everyone i have a strange question,
But hopefully i can find an awnser
I have a engine block that years ago from a previous owner had work done and the codes onthe engine were ground off presumably when decked.
Now i was told thier is a special acid that could pull these numbers up and help me see if that engine is infact original to my car.
My question is if anyone knows of this,
What this product is,
Were could i buy it?
And is it possible to use it without ruining the block?
Thankyou and i apologize for the length of the post

Yes, there is a way the secretary of state PD can bring it up but supposedly it only works 1 time? It has something to do with the metal being compressed when letter stamped.
Edit: i just had a original motor built and told the ship to save the VIN numbers. They stopped the decking right b4 and saved it for me.

Yes this is true. My wife's step-grandfather was a Sheriff's detective back in the 50s and he told me how they'd do this on semi truck frame rails where the chop shops would grind the stampings off. Unfortunately, he passed several years ago due to cancer, so I can't ask him for the details, but there was some kind of acid they used.
