Hello Everyone i'm New here and hope that someone can help me out. I just bought a 1989 firebird formula and in the process of restoring the car. But the RPO codes are missing from the center console. I can see that at one time they where there. Can anyone on here get me the RPO codes with my VIN? My VIN is 1G2FS21E0KL221615. I've tryed some websites with no luck and the local dealership says there not available. Any help would be SUPER..

Thanks Jay

Re: Rpo Codes
According to the VIN you provided, your car is a 1989 Firebird Formula with a 305 V-8 LO3 engine, an a Van Nuys car. You need a window sticker or build sheet to find out the options if the SPID is missing from the center console. A site called Compnine can give you some info. It used to be free, but I think there is a fee now to run a VIN.

Unless he is really lucky and the car was Canadian of origin, Compnine doesn't have anything for F-bodies older than 1990.

You'll have to go through GM Media Archives. Here is a thread that a quick search found:

Ok thanks, I never tried it, just had heard about it on here. I did get the dealer invoice for my TTA from Allied Vaughn and sent a copy of that to PHS for a repro window sticker. It was 4 or 5 yrs ago, I dont know if they still do it.

Re: Rpo Codes
I checked with Compnine and your VIN is not in the database. As AmorgetRS said, basically only Canadian ThirdGens and 1990+ ThirdGens are in their database.

You can get a copy of the invoice through GM Archives but it will not include every single RPO code that was on the SPID.

The master buildsheet will contain every single RPO code, dealership information, and a lot of other coded information. Below is a master buildsheet

A trim sheet will only include a few RPO codes for a particular section and has no dealership information.

Re: Rpo Codes
There is no standard location nor is there any certainty the car has one. They were supposed to be thrown out at the factory or dealership. If it wasn't thrown out, some places are under the carpet, behind the instrument cluster, just about anywhere, etc,.
