This weekend at Mecum's Seattle auction, only one 3rd Gen is on the auction block. It is a nice one though.

1989 Camaro IROC, 5.7L Auto with 50,000 miles.

The next auction is in Denver in two weeks. There are 4 3rd Gens listed so far. Whats interesting is most of the cars for sale are Resto Mods. Mainly motor upgrades. An 84 Firebird upped to a 5.7, and a Camaro sporting a 383. It will be interesting to see how much interest there will be for them.

The last car listed for Denver Saturday Night is a Sweet Red 91 Firebird Formula Auto.

I am planning on going to the auction in Denver. I had tentatively planned on putting my Z03 Convertible in the auction, but backed out last second as I needed to upfront money for family surprise. Should be fun. I'll take pics of third gens.

Non-Stock 50K mile IROC, $8000 is my bet... If it was an all original car, it might fetch more. (The wheels are not factory wheels)

The bid goes on after a high bid of 9K. I am surprised the reserve was higher. Like you said John, this was not an original equipment car. If it was, I certainly would believe it would easily clear 10K+. Low mileage original 5.7L cars are getting hard to find at any price.

Denver has a real neat mix of cars up for auction. The 3rd gens are mostly resto mods. This is one of the first auctions I have seen with so many non original cars. I am curious at what they will bring.

Did I understand correctly the Black IROC got $9,000?

Re: Mecum Seattle 1 Nice 3rd Gen
It got to a high bid of $9k but did not sell.

Change out the wheels and this would be a great original driver. I was really surprised it did not sell. I check Cl listings at least once a week, and finding a 5.7L of any type of 3rd gen, is rare. Most you see are motor swap's or heavily modified. Finding an original one, with low mileage for under 10K on CL takes lots of looking and be prepared to ship it a ways!
