What's it worth and how rare? (91 T/A)

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what you all think this 91 T/A is worth and if it is somewhat rare. As I said it is a 91 T/A. Its got a 305 TPI auto. All power options, T-Tops, WS6, etc. 102,000 miles. Pretty decent shape except the clearcoat is peeling on the spoiler. I don't think its that rare but I was just wondering. Also what do you think this is worth? Thanks.

I have a 91 T/A WS6 as well, and I spent the money to get some information from PHS. Here's what I know:

4013 Trans Ams produced in 1991.
Not all Trans Am's got the WS6 performance package.
305/Auto appears to be the most common combination.

Mine has 125000 on the clock, and had the same clearcoat problem on the spoiler. $125 after an SUV backed into my door and I no longer have that problem. :-)

Your RPO codes should be in the lockable storage compartment in the rear. Use the RPO and VIN decoder on this site to help you verify all of the information you're getting is correct.

If I read your post right the guy only wants 2000 for this car?
If so, KBB has it priced about 4700 and NADA has a low (trade-in) price of 4100 and a high (retail) price of 5650. I would be suspect and have it completely checked by a mechanic. I would also run it through carfax and see what they have.

I would be interested in what you find out as I have yet to see another Trans Am like mine in person.

The tech data on this site states 5,514 TA's made in 91. Does anyone know the source of this number and if it is wrong according to PHS then maybe we should have the administrators change the tech data section? Anyone else have a PHS package for a different year so we could check those too?

In 1991 there were 3,452 Trans Am's, 555 Trans Am 'verts, and 6 1LE Trans Am's for a total 1991 Trans Am production of 4,013. These are Pontiac's own numbers.

WOW! PHS didn't even break it down that far for me. Can I get any more information from you 92 GTA, say on color or specific RPO breakdown??

I know, I broke it down like that for my web site. Alot of the PHS numebrs are wrong. Sorry but I don't have any of the more specific info like color and RPO production, from what I've heard Pontiac didn't keep track like that so there really are none. I'm still waiting though, you never know for sure......

More specifically GM in general didn't keep option combination records. I still haven't seen any reliable numbers, that is to say I've seen all kinds of different production numbers, but none of them could really be proven.

I'm unofficially responsible for the tech data. Part of it was already there as it's been on thirdgen.org from the beginning. Awhile back Macgyver and I updated it with new information, and I wrote 90% of the Firebird history since there was very little to begin with. I know there are errors in the information, and typos, etc but considering I wrote it in one or two nights based on a few publications and a lot of my own knowledge its much better than nothing. If anyone has anything they'd like to see added, or removed, corrected, etc or whatever they can send that information along with some kind of info to back their request up and I'll add it in time. Keep in mind its not a high priority and may take awhile to get it uploaded.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
CG - Very nice car. I've always loved the way that looks. The 2 grand is for a couple Iroc's I'd like to buy. The reason I'm wondering about the Trans Am is because I ran into one just a few miles from my house. Its at a small dealer with about a dozen cars or so. The price in the window is $3495. I haven't talked to anyone yet as I've only gone over once and on a Sunday. I think saturday I'm gonna run over and see if I can take it out. Not that I need or have the money for another bird, but do you guys think this sounds like a decent price? Anyone interested in a cheap 91 T/A

If the car is mechanically sound (ie tranny hasn't **** itself, engine starts on first or second turn of the key, etc) that price sounds like a very good deal. For 100,000 miles a few problems are to be expected... peeling paint, bald tires, interior wear, etc

Kandied91z it all depends on what shape and options your Z has I think mine is probably worth about 6.5 to 7 K according to KBB.com. I was thinking of getting a 91 TA or GTA over my 91 Z would you guys suggest this or no?

That all depends on what you want... Personally I prefer the firebirds over the camaros. If I could only have one or the other, the Firebird would be my choice. Although if you have the place to put em and you can afford them there's no reason not to own both.
