Regarding, AC low pressure switches, do you guys go through them quickly?

I just changed it on this car yesterday, changed it on my yellow '85 a couple of years ago and changed it on my black '89 many years ago.

I have never changed them on my cars. What were the symptoms you had that you realized the switch was bad? Did the AC still work?

The compressor doesn't kick on. You can bypass the switch by jumping the compressor with the 3rd gen diagnostic tool, (a paperclip).

And it's always the last thing you suspect, until your third time, when it's the first you'll check.

Re: 7K mile, '89, IROC-Z, 'vert, stick, LB9

First cruise night! Car runs so nice, especially in the cool evening. It cooled down a bunch and everyone started leaving. I left shortly thereafter, top down and heat blasting! I wouldn't be surprised if this were the first time the heat has been used in anger on this California car.

I found a couple of surprises under the spoiler this week, one stud missing and one unattached. How that happens on a 7 thousand mile car, I have no idea. I've got to look into what magical adhesive 3M has for stud sticking.

Nice man! Isn’t it weird there’s more 4th gens out than 3rd? I always park next to 4th gens if I can’t find any 80s cars..

The two 4th gens are parked near me because those two guys are my good friends. BTW, the two of them are probably the nicest, cleanest, best detailed 4th gens in the country.

That’s cool! I met a guy at cars and coffee with a sweet 4th gen ram air T/A.. just had paint corrected and ceramic coated.. awesome car

It’s weird that it’s not old enough to get Hagerty insurance.. he still has regular car insurance on it and can’t value it as a classic.. i never thought about that with the 4th gens..

Glad to see the top down on the white Vert! We had a cold night a while back and I went to put the top up and some of the other guys stopped me and said “Turn on your heat! We’re keeping ours down!”

That's right! If you can't handle the convertible life, don't get a convertible.

Cold? It was nearly 100* in Oz today. Might be why I'm obsessed with air conditioning.

It's been like 90* here for a week. But....I take my 'vert out and it drops into the 50's.

Re: 7K mile, '89, IROC-Z, 'vert, stick, LB9

Happy Indepedence Day!!!

Here are some little fiddly things I enjoy doing and finally have time for, now that I'm down to 3 IROCs.

I've been meaning to clean this car's door jams since I got it but never got around to it. I sprayed with Simple Green, scrubbed with various brushes and hosed off. Easy!

Before:

After:

Also the door jam with all the labels had a bunch of unsightly, dirty glue residue.

Be careful with you cleaning products, though. You can wipe the printing off those old labels if you go too strong.

I feel better now, even if only I know.

It’s sad when you have to change your signature..

I have to change mine to 33k Miles now..

If you ever get to 10k that’ll be a tough one.. I’m not looking forward to that “3” rolling over

I will not be a slave to my sig!!

If I still had the '87, I probably would have piled the miles on that.

No, I didn't have the heart to cut it, I just unbolted and removed the 4 baffles.

I also have to say, that the MF cat back, combined with factory style tail pipes, sounds great!

Very nice- natural lines of the car unbroken by the giant tips while retaining some of the MF sound. Exactly what I was thinking of doing.

Not very smokey, but a ton of tire residue to clean up off the quarters afterward.

The exhaust note actually improved after grafting on the stock style tail pipes.

Awesome - good to hear. I’m leanin more and more towards ditchin the biggies. The Walkers are also super inexpensive and the reviews seem solidly positive.

Cool Videos! Someday I would like to like up my 87 iroc against my 89 GTA. the 89 has the dual cats, but I think everything else is the same? the 87 seems to have a way harder 1-2 shift, always did. Did the dual cats add much?
They sleep near each other, but have never had them both out at the same time. Lack of drivers I suppose Sadly haven't had either one of them out yet this year.
They just sit there on Deltran's life support devices.....

When I first got my 80 TTA the rear defog & audio boost switches had very crisp white lettering. If your familiar with the 2nd gen dash switches, the white letters are almost always gone, or close to gone. I was using a very mild interior cleaner on the dash & it started to wipe off the white letters on the switches. I was beside myself. Let it dry & used water, then a little diluted cleaner on q-tips to try and save what I could. They were never the same after. Still bugs me when I think about it. All those years they survived until I just had to detail things.

Did you find out the hard way too?

Let it dry & used water, then a little diluted cleaner on q-tips to try and save what I could. They were never the same after. Still bugs me when I think about it. All those years they survived until I just had to detail things.

Did you find out the hard way too?
When I got my former '83, the interior was simply filthy. Obviously, a lot of driving with the tops off on Wisconsin dirt roads. I used lots of Simple Green on the interior and I remember wiping off a portion of the white lettering on the bottom of the radio face with it. I was pissed! I thought this lettering survived 25 years and just stupidly wiped it off in a second.

They sleep near each other, but have never had them both out at the same time. Lack of drivers I suppose Sadly haven't had either one of them out yet this year.
They just sit there on Deltran's life support devices.....
They added 10 hp and 10 ft lbs. which was a chunk back in the day. Also 3.45 gears vs 3.08.

See my thread a couple years ago about stripping the paint off a steering column with rubbing alcohol. LOL

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...ng-column.html

Since all the switches and turn signal stalk on my Formula are all NOS replacements, I go out of my way to not even touch the printing. Yes Officer, there's a very reasonable explanation why I didn't signal that lane change.

My new PDR guy Rob, spent over half a day taking out dings and dents on three cars today. Awesome job!

Did he drill a hole in the bottom of the door, or was there already one there?

Nice Chaz. Over here I’m way overdue for a proper PDR, esp. on the hood: reference the goddamn tree in my sig.

At least got a nice covercraft evo semi custom last week to protect from the coming September acorn campaign “rolling thunder”....somewhat lol.

Oh yeah, he spent most of his time on the Mustang. It was a hot mess of dings and dents. It's like a different car now.
