Anyone Know Why GM Used 2 Different RPO Codes For The 5-Speed Manual Trans. It's Shown On Both SPID's And Build Sheets.

Re: RPO CODES

One was for all of the associated parts and the other was for the actual trans.

MK6 would be the World Class T5
M39 would be the regular T5

Re: RPO CODES

MM5 = 5 Speed parts provisions (console parts, etc)
M39 = Transmission Body with 3.08 Final Drive Ratio
MK6 = Transmission Body with 3.42 Final Drive Ratio

Both available with LB9, 5 Liter engine but the MK6 was used in the dual exhaust, higher HP version (230HP with 300 lb-ft torque vs. 205HP with 285 lb-ft torque).

Re: RPO CODES

That transmission decision depended upon the year. My 87 is a G92 car and the MK6 was apparently not available as I got the M39.
