"92 GTA convertible

What a crock of poo:

http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/5711554016.html

I guess by adding your own badges makes it a "rare" 1 of a kind. I guess then so does adding the wrong year tail lights also makes it rare.

Re: "92 GTA convertible

In the description he calls it a "Tribute GTA", with the motor its most likely only a base firebird with aero package and motor upgrade (v6 to 305tbi).
The price may be quite optimistic IMO.

Offered for sale is this very rare 1992 Firebird TRANS AM GTA convertible.
Only about 660 Firebird convertibles total were built in 1992, and less than 200 had the V8
engine and automatic transmission. Probably less than 100 still exist worldwide today.
The car has been recently totally restored with new paint, new shocks, struts,
brakes and calipers, new front steering links, new high performance end link bushings,
"wonder bar" front stabilizer bar, new plugs and, ignition wires, Eclipse stereo, new Infinity "Reference" speakers. All new tires all around with less than 1000 miles.
The Firebird GTA wheels, badges, etc. were added, making this a rare "Tribute GTA" car,
and since no 1992 GTA convertibles were ever made by GM, a rare one of a kind car.
The TBI V8 engine is untouched, except for a K&N air filter.
I am seeing similar 1992 Firebird convertibles with asking prices as high as $35,000,
my asking price is less than 1/2 those prices.
This car will continue to appreciate 10-15% per year, full coverage collector car insurance
for this car is only about $200 per year.
OPEN TO ALL REASONABLE OFFERS, will strongly consider an older V8 pickup truck and cash for the car, or a car and cash, or just plain cash.

At least he doesn't claim it's original. The undisclosed clones are countless, in 20 years I can count the disclosed clones on one hand. So at least there's that.

Re: "92 GTA convertible

only 200 had the V8? Where does information like this come from?

First there was 663 Trans Am Convertibles, (This is not)
Second, there was at least 616 LB9 Convertibles (all TA), and 828 LO3 Convertibles, all were Base Firebirds with the exception of those being shipped overseas.
THere was at least 399 V6 cars... Oh I see what he did, he took the number of 660, subtracted 399 as being V6 cars and then decided that there was only a few with the V8.

Re: "92 GTA convertible

Where is he seeing similar Firebirds being asked $35,000 for?

At least now we know our cars will appreciate by 10-15% per year according to him.

Re: "92 GTA convertible

I remember one year at Dayton there was a fellow who showed up in a blue '92 Trans Am convertible, and he had added all the GTA emblems to it. He swore up and down it was factory original, even claiming he pulled strings at GM to get it built. Of course, he didn't think far enough ahead to remove the TRANS AM decals from the doors....

So I guess we should be thankful for an honest seller for once.

Re: "92 GTA convertible

More like he "pulled strings" (whined) at his dealer, so they "built" some emblems on his Trans Am to get him to shut up.

Watching the TTAs I'm not sure you can buy an original low mileageTTA foe that now.
