Need help Figuring out if it's an Iroc 1987
Hey guys,
I know this has been asked a few times and there are great articles that explain what to look for. I've read most of them and still am being thrown off as to what it is. The guy says it's a 1987 z28 with a 5.7 tpi. Has 69,xxx miles. I've looked everywhere and it says that only the iroc had the 5.7. The car is 2.5 hours away and don't wanna make the trip unless it is a true 5.7. check out the pics and let me know what you think. What do you think it's worth? I also noticed it has rear drum breaks which I thought irocs do not have.
Thanks

Get the VIN and decode it. 8th digit should be an 8 if it's a 350 car. If the rear is original, it's not a 350 car, or it's not an 87, because in 87 discs were required with the 350.
The seats and door panels are wrong for 87. All Irocs have the ground effects painted body color. That car is TRASHED. 69k miles or not, a trashed car is a trashed car.
Edit: I missed that at first... I'd say it's worth scrap value. If the VIN says it's an 87 350 car, and it moves under it's own power, I'd still want to be in it for under $1500. Any issues with the title, engine, trans, etc - I mean missing title, dead cylinders, knocks, missing gears, anything, and I wouldn't give more than $500. It'll cost more to restore a car like that, than just buying a decent one to begin with.

Why would you consider a vehicle in this condition, 2.5 hours away? If it was a low mile car, or higher miles in great condition, maybe. I'd probably pass on this car if it was even 20 miles away!

save your gas. All 87's with 350 had rear discs.... either this is the wrong year, or engine swap or its not an iroc.....this is a parts car at best

One has to ask how a car with 69,000 miles on it gets in this condition?

You're willing to drive 2.5 hours for that? Is it free?
