Is this really worth 28k?
I'm not advertising for a dealer, lol, i just watch their videos for badass cars they put out, and they sell some IROCs sometimes, and some low mileage ones too. This one I believe has the lowest they have on sale, which they posted today.

Oh yeah, it's one of those super rare cars without hood insulation, the stripe decals, the flashlight in the overhead console, and the overhead console storage pouch. I watched about 7 seconds of the video, clicking ahead frequently.
For that kind of money, it's a POS.

Vanguard has very "high" prices. just take a look at their inventory. They do get some cool cars in but most of their cars are priced beyond the market. But they do have a lot of cars & must be selling them. I think maybe they sell to the guy who is looking to buy that one car he always wanted & that person doesn't want to go on the hunt, or take a chance from a private party. The videos they have are entertaining , however they almost never say anything negative about any of their cars. They will walk right past dings or other things & never point them out.
All in all they do a good job marketing themselves but pricing they are on the outer limits of reality on everything they have.

So he pretends to understate the originality of the tires, then later states they replaced them.
Also, nice way to close passenger door by using glass/window.
Wow. Would not buy.

I am nearing the end of a 10 year nut/bolt restoration on a 68 GTO. I watched several of their youtube videos on 68's just for giggles. On one car they will point out all the great things like solid frame, clean oil pan, brake lines, etc. then the next car they will point out different things about that car, but in the video you can see some things that are a mess & they will make no mention of it whatsoever. They are not doing anything illegal or wrong I suppose, they just don't give an honest assessment of their cars in my opinion. Fancy showroom, thorough walk around & Test drives, these are things most sellers don't have or do, but many of the cars they sell are the same cars you find every day on Craigslist or eBay for a fraction of the money. A buyer just needs to know what they are looking at.
They cater to a whole different market than us chiming in here

Re: Is this really worth 28k?
The videos are kind of confusing - they actually do the underneath video first, then the drive, then the showroom, but then present it backwards on youtube the otherway around. I wrote his son who manages the youtube channel they might want to rethink that idea lol, but no response.
So on one car, 1 minute into the video on the showroom he say "the AC feels great". But then at the end of the video under the hood he said "not sure if the AC works yet".

Re: Is this really worth 28k?
As stated above.. these guys shoot for 5-10k over Market. Some of the cars look legit all original and some look like they’ve been messed with a little. You’ll see one with a swapped out steerIng wheel, rims painted to match the body, decals in the wrong place, etc and they set the price as if it’s an all original bone stock collector’s car.
Every time the guy says “BRAND SPANKIN NEW” you should take a drink! Especially when he’s pointing to a rim that you can see the clear peeling in the video..
The cars are nice but they act and price them like they are much more than they are..

Take a sip every time he says "Amazing" as well.
I dont see how they make any money, unless they buy those cars for real cheap. They have a bunch of guys in the shop, several sales people, the typical overhead, I believe a couple of buildings, and now they are up to like 220 cars. They have to make several thousand at least off of each car, and sell a car or two a day, minimum, just to pay salaries i would assume

Re: Is this really worth 28k?
Question...
When he gets to the rear axle under the body, he mentions that the axle has been cleaned up and coated because they were "raw" from the factory.
I am working on the rear of my 85 right now, and will be hitting it up with a wire brush to knock off years of crud and mud off of the rear suspension and axle, and expect to paint it after.
My question is -
1. Were they (the rear housing) actually raw as in a casted gray steel looking color?
2. When he says coating, it looks like it was all just hit with a can of Semi-Gloss black....IS there a actual preferred coating?

ive learned to rewind and analyze carefully the politicians, journalists, religious leaders... but the salespeople i haven't mastered yet.
Also.... are those good spots to jack up a 82-92? I usually just the pinch welds using my quickjack but if what they are using in the video is better and my quickjack will extend that far enough then ill just go that route.

Buyers like that don't always trust places like Craigslist & for good reason. So While I would never buy a car at those price points, I understand how what they are doing works. Vanguard just needs to point out some of the bad things too, or at least inspect the same things on every car. If they did that, I really wouldn't be so critical other than not understanding the price tags.
They have a 79 T/A trans am video where they call everything original & its clearly messed with too.

Re: Is this really worth 28k?
That was my point in #6. If I get the time I will show you where he goes under a car & points out how nice the oil pan is on a car. then in another video of the same model car, he points out something else nice, but the oil pan is beat to heck. I really think their type of buyer is not us (meaning do it yourself car guys) Their customers are the guys who have the money, love cars but don't have many tools in the tool box. (use that literally or as an analogy)

$32K? Holy crap you just have to be kidding me. It's clean, but not all that original.
Not a big fan of everything painted black underneath either. I would much rather see original rusted steel parts, rather than black over rusted steel. personal preference, but if your going to price something thats honestly double the price you should even be thinking you can get away with asking, it better very unmolested. That odometer reading doesn't compensate for everything else. I'm Guessing the cars been painted. no mention of that, but looks like color sanded clear.
Vanguard is creating a pricing world that is only comparable with their other cars.

They put up another one. 35K on this one. At least its a 350. But damn that's a lot of money. I dont see anything wrong with that's way obvious with it other than the pin striping he mentioned but then again I didn't see the busted up oil pan in the first one in this thread lol.
Maybe at 3:14 in. Look at the paint where he rubs his hand. Doesn't it look sort of wavy, as if someone repainted it and just sort of gobbed up in layers...
Also notice when he is showing off the interior, they cut away and start over. I have a feeling he slams the back closed, or the motor just doesn't work and they don't want to show it.
