It actually is.

Many of those parts are super rare here and made out of unobtanium in Europe.

I've since started selling them off a bit at a time.

Re: Best Repro Hood Liner?

I always had a few questions on this subject, seeing as my car like many came without one. I get the flame retardant dropdown function and would probably be more into the concept of it protecting the paint from heat if I’d just done a big fancy new lustre-y paint job but for now
- do they suppress the sound of the motor, if at all?
- what’s the usual weight gain, like a couple lbs? Less?
- most importantly, do they cause the engine to run even hotter? Aside from deterioration I saw removal on this reason a few times
- ...and finally, where the hell do ya get a ‘Heartbeat of America’ one? :P Seen it on a thirdgen here and there online but never found a source on eBay or otherwise. That font with the bowtie is boss!

Re: Best Repro Hood Liner?

-I’d say it must suppress the sound a little bit. As a sound engineer even putting a towel in front of a blasting speaker willl cut the volume to your ear. Any soft material can be used to deaden sound and remove reverberation. Stages and rooms with carpeting and curtains behind a band will be easier to control volume than a room that’s all hard, reflective surfaces.

-I’d say it weighs maybe even less than 2lbs.. very light weight

-I don’t think it runs the engine hotter. Back in the day we used to run 160 thermostat and hook the second fan up to a toggle. These cars run hot when stock but there’s things you can do the help that.

-I wish they made some that weren’t just plain, stock looking ones.. I remember seeing a guy who had one that said “IROC Z” in the correct font on hood liner.. Wish I knew where to get one.

Everyone at the cruise nights thinks mine is original and they comment on how clean and flawless the engine is and “Look, the hood liner even looks perfect!” I’ve told a couple guys it’s a reproduction..

Thanks 88. I do have the thermo and fan switch to go in... At the end of the day repro or embroidered it definitely cleans up the look any time the hood is up! Something to be said for the plain factory look too. And way way cheaper than any custom callout. I think I’ll get on this.
