Engine identification help

hello everyone!

I came across this forum and had to sign up after reading a few threads.
I had a 350 book but I can’t find it since I’ve moved. It has all the answers im
looking for. I’m hoping you guys can help me out.

I bought a Chevrolet 350 block tonight. It’s a 2 bolt main. The individual I bought it off of didn’t know much about it.
I got the complete engine for 100.00. It looks like it spun a bearing on the crank. One of the crank bearings was nearly cut in half. I tore it all down and here are the numbers off the block. I’ll add the pictures. Hopefully they work. I basically want to turn this into a 355 to go into a 85 z28.

Is it a good block based off the serial numbers? Should I seek a 4 bolt main instead?

Re: Engine identification help

Here are the numbers to the best of my ability

I see a 638 and then 27 under it. Or it’s 627 under it.

Then I see a G70

I also see H8

27
638

do39 (at least that’s what it looks like)

5.7L6 or lg

GM SGT

14093638

The heads are numbered 18 and 19.
I can hardly read the numbers in them but I think this is what they are
141c2193 I could be way off

the intake has 14102182 and 9028 on it

Re: Engine identification help

87-95 350, TBI swirl port heads, with the roller cam provisions but a flat tappet cam it probably came out of a TBI pickup. The block is probably a decent enough place to start. Put a roller cam in it, and all the usual rebuild stuff. The heads are poor, I wouldn't put a penny into having them cleaned, checked for cracks, or rebuilt.

Re: Engine identification help

I was wondering if I could put a roller cam in. So I’m good to go on a roller cam?
I’ll put the heads for sale. Which cam do you guys suggest I go with? I want something mild. Nothing too aggressive.

Re: Engine identification help

I used this website to figure out what motor was in my car. Someone put an L05 in my car. An L05 with TPI/ N10 is all torque.
