drove by it on on my way to the cruise night.. was surprised to see a 5-Speed.
It photographs well, but the paint is pretty nicked up.. no noticeable dents. The nose looks like it was painted cheap and has a dull orange peel look in person..
Wheels looked to be in good shape..
The driver seat is ripped to shreds and the passenger seat is a little rough.
I think $5,500-$6k tops and assuming “Low Miles” means 70k miles.
I think the price is high but it looks like it’s all there..
According to our friends at GTASourcepage there was 366 (not including exported) 1989 GTAs with the 5-speed out of 8,470.
BTW that's not the original shift ****. I don't think that's the correct boot for 1989. And the steering wheel stitch pattern also doesn't look original. Of course the radio isn't either.

this is why you guys are awesome.. I clearly don’t know my way around firebirds as well as Camaros
Nice car though. Around here it would easily fetch 8k. Hell id probably buy it myself. Can't remember last time I saw a 5spd GTA around here. I never see any 5spd cars period.
It's a very real possibility that this car was swapped to a 5spd. So bear that in mind as you're looking at it. I've swapped 6 thirdgens from failmatics to 5 or 6 speeds. Of the 6, only 4 could be spotted by the most educated thirdgen expert as fakes. 700R4s ruin these cars, and it's not uncommon to find a manual swapped car.
Also, of the 5spd cars I've run into either as parts cars or as fixer uppers, about 1/2 of them have had V6 transmissions swapped into them, so keep an eye out for that also.
Interesting.. So what’s an easy tell to find out if it’s a swap? I never thought about that but I remember a lot of people were dying to have manual transmissions in these cars..
I just assumed most people swapped to the T56 which would be pretty easy to spot..
I should have grabbed the VIN because an “8” would have been an obvious tell..
Look in the trans tunnel at the hole cut for the shifter. Original manual trans car will have a doubler stamping around the shifter hole. There were differences year over year for manual and hydraulic clutch linkages, but just look at the firewall and see if the linkage or clutch slave cylinder hole is hacked or not. Those are the best ways to tell.
Bet that's a dang job swapping over to a manual tranny. I have access to a wrecked low mileage L69 5spd but seemed like more of a job than I wanted to take on. I did get the posi 3.73 rear and put in my car.

The steering column would be another easy dead give away if a swap was done. 5 speed cars have the little trigger on the column to get the ignition key out

I totally forgot about that little trigger on my 5speed..
That is one clean car. The car from the OP doesn't look bad either. As you said before wouldn't be bad to have to drive around and not be too worried about the paint. But not for $8,500.
