Re: US Border Patrol Firebird Pursuit Vehicle
Anyone know how many of these they had? I remember seeing one at the inspection station in New Mexico along I-10 (west bound) in early 1993. It also looked like a slightly darker shade of green, but that could be my recollection.

Re: US Border Patrol Firebird Pursuit Vehicle
It is an interesting Vehicle
1) Noted as a 1985
2) Has a Formula Hood
3) Has Formula Wheels
4) Has Base Firebird/Formula Tail lights
5) Has 87-90 Rear Aero Spoiler
6) Appears to have a 4 spoke 88/89 Steering Wheel, cannot see very well... Does not look like an 82-87 Wheel in the pic.
Reviving an old thread here.............
The research I've done recently states this is an 1989 Formula 350 (but why does it have the GFX?) this info was posted on the Border Patrol display for this car at the BP museum.
I'd love to see the SPID tag or build sheet for this car - did someone add the GFX or did RPO R8Z add the GFX to this Formula ??? I'd like to know more about it
Just saw (I'm assuming) your post about this on the Trans Am Lovers on fb.
Something fishy here for sure...article says it's a Formula, yet it has ground effects, and a base Firebird hood. I would guess it's a case of someone wrecked it at some point, couldn't find the right hood, and thought the ground effects looked cool.

Yes....Stories are all over the place......the info from US border patrol says its an 89 Formula 350......then in another document they say its a 1985 Firebird that was "restored" in 2007
So it's possible during a "restoration" someone added the Formula goodies......only way to know for sure is to get the VIN and/or SPID tag pics - a pic from back when it was originally delivered would be nice too.
